Share your favorite labor/birth music

I thought it would be a great idea to share our favorite birth/labor music. I'd love to have a copy of that song about 'letting it roll off your shoulder....'

I'm so unaware of music that isn't played on KLove or is a veggie tales or raffi song.... I will occassionally sneak some old school music & for some reason I'd love to hear some Wean...PUSHING LITTLE DAISY'S & MAKE 'EM COME UP! Definitly not child friendly, but....in the mood to hear them...'I'M SICK OF YOUR MOUTH & YOUR 2% MILK!!!' Man...brings back the memories of being single & meeting my husband.

But, I have tons of nature songs....a great whale cd...bunch of other stuff. Anyone interested? It could be sent through gmail & it's a free mail service that holds a lot of files you can see too.

We're just not over-achievers like you, Honey! I'm only 12 weeks!

With dd1, they stopped everything with Terb and then threatened a c-section because my water had broken: . Dh had the cds from the car and I asked him to put in Blues Traveler...because we listened to it on road-trips all the time and made me think of forward-motion and progress.

Eventually, I got tired of it and just wanted to listen to a thunderstorm cd. Then, after a little while longer, I just didn't care anymore...

With dd2, my active labor was about 2 hours! I had a bunch of great music prepared, but ended up just listening to my hypnobabies "birth day" cd a couple of times and then getting annoyed and wanting silence. Everything was going way too fast for me and I was having trouble integrating.

Hope you get more responses!

I had this really cool mix of what I thought I wanted...but, nothing was further from the truth!!

I hated anyone talking...so, we ended up with this rain/thunder meditation cd that was amazing. My mw kept looking out the window thinking it was real!

For this one, I think I'm sticking to no words, no talking, but nature sounds - I just got a super cool whale noises cd, that is in the running right now!

Well, I've birthed to Charlie Brown's "Happiness" both times. I adore that song and will probably try to birth to it again, but I won't have my accomodating dh with me. I hope the doula doesn't mind being yelled at to switch to that song as the baby is crowning! The first time, it's just what happened to be on at the time of delivery out of the many cd's I had chosen to take. The second time, I wanted it again. It's just such a sweet song to birth to and to have playing during those first few moments with baby.

I remember listening to some meditaion CD in early labor. I had my MP3 player preloaded at home but I completley forgot about it my the time I got to the birth center. I think I had Dead Can Dance, Interpol,-I don't remember the rest. I know it was a total mix of stuff so I could try to be prepared for whatever mood I was in. Turned out that music just wasn't on my mind when I was actually in labor.

If we do homebirth this time, I think I'll just leave the computer up and pick and choose. Not sure if we do the birth center route though.

I have not chosen my music yet, but I just wanted to share some advice that was given to me in my last pregnancy. If you are not giving birth at home and plan to use music it is a good idea to make sure you make a cd of the music and not just plan on using your ipod, because some women find it very irritating to have headphones or earplug like phones in or on your ears when you are in labor. Of course if you want to tune out the whole world for awhile then headphones might be just the thing for you! Just a thought.

Last time I made a labor mix and a mix to put on right after the baby was born. The labor mix was droned out but we did remember to put the afterbirth mix on and it was very special. I still listen to it all the time. Since then, I've gotten an iPod , so I'll probably make a few playlists but really just have it on random. I think a lot of Marley will help me relax in labor.
