Anyone else really short of breath?

I'm so short of breath all the time. If I have to do anything with my hands above my head (like wash my hair) it's way worse. Even if I sit slouched over I feel short of breath. It's getting to be a real drag.

funny you should post this....I have been short of breath all weekend, along with a racing heart and light-headedness. And I have not been doing anything strenuous. I called my mw this morning b/cI was getting worried and she says that all my symptons are classic signs of anemia and that I should up my iron intake and eat lots of steak! LOL

I had a pretty bad asthma attack two weeks ago (at 13 weeks) and have had to go on steroids. It is getting better and they are hoping to slowly wean me off the steroids over the next month. My doctor and my midwife both talked about how important it was for the baby to be getting lots of oxygen, so you might want to give your care person a call and check in!

I've been short of breath practically since conception, and I feel like it's been better since I entered the 2nd trimester. I was especially short of breath when talking and I'd notice that I was taking very full breaths as I lay down to sleep. My bloodwork looks great- no anemia. In my case, just an expanding blood volume and greater need for oxygen I think.

Meee too! I have felt that way sonce I got prego! I HATE it!: Makes me feel like I have to rest all the time. I feel sooo wore out. Had a ton of testing done with my last pregnancy and they found nothing wrong.: I think it got better soon after 2nd tri. But I always felt more out of breath.

Anyone have tons of heat-palipations too??? LMK!

this is interesting. i was having more wheezy moments than usual basically since conception as well, but in the past week (my 12th) it's been a bit better. for me it was also worst at night. it was ending up so bad i was having to use my (albuterol) inhaler once a week which i desperately didn't want to do, but my m/w was strict about my breathing being more important than the risks, especially since i'm using it so rarely.

in any event, this is very normal.

My breathing has only been a problem in the past couple of weeks, and some days it is far worse than others. I can't seem to find a reason for that either. I have an appt with my respiratory therapist in a month or so though, so hopefully he'll have some ideas. I know that my OB was adamant that if I'm having trouble breathing to use my inhaler so that the babies are getting enough oxygen. That's been hard for me since a lot of times I work through the tough breathing spots and I know that I have a larger than normal lung capacity. But my babies breathing is far more important so I've used my albuterol a couple of times.

YES! I was having periods of shortness of breath all weekend. I thought it was my asthma, but I was not wheezing at all, just feeling out of breath. I am so relieved to see that I am not the only one. I know it's normal at some stage of pregnancy, just couldn't remember which part.

Oh, and for the PP with asthma, do not worry about using your albuterol. It's NOT going to hurt the baby. With my first pregnancy, I not only used albuterol, but Singulair and Advair. (this pregnancy, too). It is WAY more important for your asthma to be under control. Your baby will benefit from this more than be affected by any nominal risk from the meds.

Thanks everyone.

Looks like most of us have some form of asthma so maybe that's why it's more ponounced with us. I haven't had issues with asthma in years and haven't used an inhaler in years but maybe the pregnancy is kicking these things back in.

Thanks again for the comments.

I get that on occasion as well. I will up my iron intake just in case I think.

Sometimes... I wondered if I was just getting sick or if it might be pregnancy.
