I feel so off this pregnancy

My first pregnancy I felt amazing (except the 1st trimester). This time around, I feel so winded and tired. I have this kinda crampy-ish pain too in my lower abdomen and back but it's been going on for about 4 weeks and hasn't gotten worse. I addressed that part with my midwife but she says it's probably nothing because I'm not spotting and the pain has been the same and that I should wean my 2yo DS from being held so much (so I'm trying to encourage him to walk more). I did not mention to her how unbelievably weak I feel. Sometimes my arms feel like I can't even lift them and my legs feel like jello. My hips feel like they are so separated this time around, and like the baby is really low (in fact, the last visit my midwife couldn't hear the heartbeat for 5 minutes until she tried to listen all the way down by my hip bone).
I feel like I am eating better than my last pregnancy, I'm good with my prenatals and I'm taking some extra magnesium.
I just don't get it. I'm not sure if I should call my midwife and address all this with her or if it's just the result of having a 2yo and being pregnant. But honestly, it feels unnatural how weak I feel sometimes. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Big hugs for you! I would take a little more with her. Could it be that you are low on iron? I know that I tend to get anemic with each pregnancy, pretty early on, and that causes a LOT of fatigue issues for me... Hopefully it is something as simple as that.

Also, having an energetic 2 yr old adds a LOT to the picture (something we are also dealing with for the first time) and I know that I am a different person than I was with DS's pregnancy.

I would call your mw and talk with her about it, today. Don't sugar-coat how you're feeling...especially the physical weakness, etc. Could be something very easy to address!!

As far as physical pain, etc, I found that the relaxin kicked into high gear much sooner in my 2nd pregnancy. Massage really helps, if you can swing it. Is there a massage school anywhere near you?

Take gentle care of yourself...and call your midwife!

I'm sure it has more to do with the fact that you now have a 2 yr old to chase after/carry around, etc. You're also 2 years older than you were last time. I wouldn't worry about it too much but I'd probably bring it up again at my next appt. just to be sure. I'm kind of feeling the same way. I can hardly carry my 2.5 yr old anymore. I carried her all the time before I got pregnant, so I really don't think it's because she's suddenly heavy. I just get really winded from carrying her.

I'm feeling the same way. I remember it being so much easier last time! But, I had no kid to chase around back then! I would talk to your midwife too. Better safe than sorry! I hope you start feeling better soon!

Every pregnancy is different and having a little one will, IMO, probably make your second more tiring, regardless of how you're feeling otherwise. I know that I find that I'm totally winded and weak when I climb the stairs with DD in arms and I feel ridiculous but it's hard work carrying around that little wriggly toddler!

From what you describe, it does sound like there might be more to it than just normal pregnancy tiredness. Have they done a full blood work up to see if you are deficient in any areas?

Might consider getting your thyroid levels checked. My best friend started having thyroid probs during her second pregnancy and she had all of the same symptoms. If she doesn't take her meds now, she will feel really, really weak to the point that sometimes her knees will give out when she stands.

Hope you figure it out and feel better soon!

Are you implying I'm aging???
I think I will def get the blood work done, my mom works at a laboratory anyways so I'll ask her to check my thyroid and do a general workup... and yeah, I should stop sugar coating with my midwife too. I think I'm afraid of hearing anything bad but it probably just is being a toddler's mommy and maybe something I'm deficient in. Thank you all for your responses
