Cloth dipey ?

We didn't start cloth diapering dd2 until she was about 8 weeks old. Had to save up to buy them!

Anyway, I have 30 Motherease diapers and some M, ML and Lg covers. Obviously, I'll have to get a couple of newborn covers... But, do you think this will be enough diapers for a newborn and a toddler to share? Do you think I need a few more...: If so, can you call my dh?

Honestly for 2 especially in the newborn phase (you know they have to be changed what feels like constantly) I would get a couple more unless you want to be doing laundry every other day....I prefer every 3 days diaper laundry but I would say not many more AT ALL like 5 or something.....doublers too.....

Oooh, kissaluvs outlet (online store) just opened and has an AWESOME deal on theirs... I just ordered a set (12) of the contours. I've never used em before, so I can't vouch for them but a gf said that they were great and for the price I couldn't pass up.

We are in the same situation. I can have my DH talk to your DH, he is all about CD right now

I'd definitely get a few more. If you want to go low cost, though, maybe some infant pfs and covers. Then you could use those in a pinch, but use the ME the rest of the time...

Thanks for the advice!

Dh loves cd's too...he's just feeling a little stressed about money right now. We just spent a thousand dollars : on acupuncture for my HG, and will be paying for our homebirth completely out of pocket.

I agree with Laura, I'd go with prefolds. And I truly do not believe that most OS diapers will fit a newborn. And I've seen the MEOS. There's no way that would have fit my dd2 when she was born. If you get prefolds, you can get some preemie prefolds for the newborn stage and then infant and toddler prefolds for backup when the two are sharing the MEOS diapers. And of course, you'll need some newborn and small covers.

Alisha,
How big was your dd? Two of my close friends used MEOS all the way through... My dd2 was 8 lbs. Do you think they wouldn't have fit her? Thanks for your insight!

Good call......definetly cost effective and you could dye them (FUN!!!)though I could never say I find prefolds to be quick and easy...maybe I am just slow in general....:

We too are going to use Kissaluvs contours for the newborn phase of this babe and then graduate into either FB's or BumGenius onesize.....

DD1 was 8 lb. 5 oz. and did not fit in newborn disposables. We went straight to size 1 even with the umbilical cord. But dd2 was 7 lb. 2 oz. and had a tiny bottom. Most of my newborn cloth diapers were too big, newborn disposables overlapped in the middle. We bought preemie disposables to use the first week until her cord fell off and we could fit newborn stuff on her. She stayed in her newborn diapers for 2 months. They were very different in size. So, I guess it just depends. I think a typical 8 lb. baby *might* fit into a MEOS.
