Perhaps I'm too much of a cervical-check-self-exam-newbie..... But bear with me. I'm learning. 
But how can you tell what the baby's station is by doing a cervical check?
Is it possible to know the position of your cervix without history? In other words, I just started checking my cervix in the past 3 weeks. This is something that I've never done before. So is it possible to know if my cervix is posterior or anterior without a comparision?
And lastly, when I check my cervix for dilation, I'm imagine that what I'm doing to feel is the baby's head and my cervix opening around it. But I don't know why I'm trying to feel for that because I'm don't think that the baby hasn't engaged that much (or at all I'm not sure). Can my cervix open without the baby being engaged? That seems like such a silly question because I didn't think it mattered when baby engaged. But nevertheless, I don't understand what my cervix would dilate around if not the baby's head. So I'm asking the question.
