still having incision pain

Hi,

I am still having some incision pain almost 6 months after my c/s. Is this usual, I mean are any of you also experiencing this? It is only painful if I touch the scar or if my underwear rub against the scar, but it is very sensitive.

thanks!

I had the same thing and it lasted for about 2-3 years or so. As long as it doesn't appear infected, it sounds normal.

I had to have surgery to remove a large mole on my shoulder that was suspected to have gone cancerous. I have a 5 inch long scar now and it was impossible to keep clothing and such from rubbing up against it.

I used silicone gel sheets over the scar and was amazed at how much they helped it to heal. I had to change them every day (basically, take it off, wash it, dry them and put it back on) but otherwise it was pretty easy. I found that if I went a few days without wearing the sheet, the scar would get painful and stiff, but that with them, it was much softer and flatter. I wore the sheets for about 3-4 months.

You may have other issues, like adhesions, to deal with, because your scar goes through several layers of muscle, but if you want help with the surface layers of the scar, the gel sheets really work (and they help improve the appearance of it as well).

Good luck.

Hey-
I had a c/sec almost 18 mos ago and I still have tenderness in that general area. When my dd "pounces me" in bed while playing and hits my belly, it still really hurts. My doc said adhesions are probable. As if I wasn't mad enough about my needless c/sec, I still hurt! Grrrrrrrrrr. You're not alone.

Delurking to say than 13mo after surgery I'm still feeling some tenderness (and numbness) in spots. Doesn't seem too unusual and I'm relieved to find out as well.
