Who We Are and What We Do
Nurtured Products for Parenting is a Canadian home-based, family-owned and mother-operated online business located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. We are dedicated to educating and providing families with environmentally sustainable product choices that are unique, functional, stylish, and beautiful.
Nurtured Products for Parenting was born in 2006 after about a year of cloth diapering our daughter. While we were expecting, we thought we might like to use cloth diapers for their reduced environmental impact and cost savings, but were not interested in the smelly, wet diaper pail, diaper pins, and plastic pants we thought were integral to cloth diapering. After a bit of research, we discovered a new generation of cloth diapers – complete with built-in fasteners and a wide array of styles, fabrics and patterns. As so often happens, many families who choose today’s cloth diapers develop a true passion for cloth diapering – and we were no exception!
Nurtured Products for Parenting has evolved into a true family affair. While it is true that Nurtured is a mother-operated business, my husband, Jeff, offers technical support, helps maintain the website from time to time and is in charge of accounting. He is also very involved in the care of our daughter and son and offers his opinion regularly on the products we carry.
About Our Products
We have built an inventory of exceptional products produced by work-at-home mom entrepreneurs and companies. We use these products ourselves and have specifically chosen them for their performance, quality, style, and ease of use. We also seek out products that are made in Canada, reusable, produced of organic fibres, and support fair labour practices. Our product lines include British Columbia-made Aristocrats, Bummis of Montreal, Quebec, CuddlyWrap by Peapod Creations of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Fuzzi Bunz. We've also got beautiful products by Goober Baby, and Hankettes, both of British Columbia. We carry a number of products for baby and mama by Happy Heiny's, a wide range of diapering products and accessories by British Columbia's JamTots, and luxuriously soft wool and cashmere breast pads made in British Columbia by Luxe Baby. For local sales, we carry one of Canada's most popular diaper and cover combinations made in St. Catherine's, Ontario by Mother Ease. We also stock the popular stretch wool jersey diaper covers by Stacinator. For herbal care of baby's skin, we also carry Calendula Creme by Thompson's Homeopathic of Toronto, Ontario and Dimpleskins Naturals.
