crampy and worried

I am scared. Paranoid. Last night I had a few little twinges that felt like mini contractions in my left side. This morning I woke up with cramping- sorta like menstrual cramps but not as bad. I have had them since 6:00am and it is now almost 1:30pm. Please someone tell me this is normal!

Maybe I should call the doctor.

I'm not in your DDC, but I had similar cramping plus some bleeding. I was a wreck. I had an emergency ultra sound and everything was fine. My midwife said that some women's bodies act like they're having a period about the time when they would be. You might be in that time period.

If you're concerned, call your provider. It is likely that it's nothing, but I totally know the feeling and the panic.

Snark time! Would you believe I called the Dr's office and the WHOLE OFFICE IS OUT TO LUNCH? They go all together from 1:00-1:45 every day, leaving nobody in the office. aargh. What about deranged patients such as myself who need immediate answers before having a nervous breakdown??????

I'm sure you're fine. Have you called back?

First huge hugs . Second, you don't have any spotting though right? I've noticed as I've progressed that I can really start feeling my uterus growing/expanding more in the past few weeks (guess it was still somewhat stretched from DS). They are also like mild menstrual cramps and sometimes come and go all morning. I talked about it with my MW last week and she said that I was pretty much spot on with my assumption of it being growing pains basically.

Always call when you feel worried. It's true that it's normal to have some cramping... Respectful reassurance is also part of our hcps' jobs. If you don't feel reassured after a phone conversation; ask for a quick appointment. If they give you a hard time, switch providers. I'm serious.

I hope you hear back and get lots of reassurance soon! You're in my thoughts.

Thanks everyone. I have a call in to the triage nurse- she is usually good about calling back right away. I will keep you all posted!

Are you sure you're drinking enough? Take a break to lay down and have lots of water! You can get crampy or have BH contrax when you get dehydrated.

Hugs,
Manda

While you contact your doc or midwife I would drink Melisa tea (don't know if that herb exists there) or Red Raspberry Leaf Tea to relax the uterus, and Chamomile with Linden to relax yourself. I'm sure everything will be ok.

Hugs and good thoughts!

Has the nurse called back yet? I hope that everything is okay and I am sending good thoughts your way!

Have you talked to them yet? I am thinking that maybe it's round ligament pain from your uterus stretching?

Well, I hope that's what it is!

Make sure to drink lots of water, that is a good tip for sure! I was dehydrated and that may have contributed to me with preterm labor...hope you are okay!!

Update

Well, I first talked to the nurse and had a meltdown right there on the phone. She assured me that I would be fine but that it sounded like maybe a UTI- she would check with the doctor regarding what to do next.

I just talked to the doctor and she said it certainly does not sound like a miscarriage but that both ligamental and constipation. Fine by me! She said a miscarriage at this stage, after 3 strong heartbeats and a good ultrasound would be very unusual.

So, thank you all for your concern. I am going to load up on water, fruits, and veggies and get a good night's sleep. Maybe I will pop soon and be out of this weird in-between "I don't look pregnant, I just look fat" stage.
