My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This is the prettiest carrier, and fit my shoulders and figure (at 5'6") much better than the Ergo. I got it when my daughter was about nine months, two years ago - it doesn't appear to have...

This potty is great - excellent value & performance! (plus it's cute!) My 9 month old DS took to it right away. He is a big boy (30 in. tall - feet not quite on floor - & 27 lbs.) and this is...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Oh, what you're feeling is SO normal!!
This baby will change your life and having doubts will come and go.
Eat healthfully, for sure. I know losing weight is a huge accomplishment and it'll be hard to start eating for a baby and not you... but you can lose weight again. If you eat sensibly, you shouldn't gain 80 lbs.
I suffer with *self diagnosed* body image disorder (I think... I'm just never really 100% happy with myself) and gaining weight is really hard for me to accept. I gained 60lbs 1st pg, and 40 with my last 2.
I never really give up coffee, but switch to half decaf.
Check out the diabetic pregnancy diet and maybe discuss it with your doc. It really is super healthy and good for you. i'm not a doctor, so I am not recommending you do it if you aren't diabetic, but it's worth discussing with your doc if you are really worried.

I'm not in your due date club but saw your post and wanted to say Congratulations!! The hormones are gonna run wild and thats normal to have lots of worries and concerns. Try not to let the weight stuff and # of calories worry you too much. I try to eat a whole foods well balanced diet as best I can can and limit the junk. I would personally stay away from the coffee, even decaf. A prenatal vitamin would be a good to start if you havent already but the best way to get your nutrition is through your food.

My first pregnancy I had an ob/gyn for my care and now this pregnancy decided to find a midwife. She is so much more supportive and has lots of great advice on nutrition. Every situation is different so it depends on what you are looking for. This board has a lot of great info! Congratulations again!!

Congrats! I too have used NFP for bc and I have NO Idea how I got PG> THe only thing I can think of is that I O'd twice this month, and maybe the second one got "caught"? This is my third pregnancy, but I am still feeling a LOT of shock and frankly I am scared, too. This means the kids will outnumber the parents in our household!
As for what you should do, that kind of depends on what type of care you want. If you want a midwife, then you need to call around and arrange to meet w/ a few of htem. If you are going to have a hospital birth, you can call the local hospital and ask who the deliverying Drs. are, then ask around and find one you think will work for you. You can kind of interview them. My first appt. is at 9 weeks (sometimes a bit earlier) and it is mainly just a review w/ the nurses, blood draws, paper-work, ect. My first real appt. is at the 12-13 week mark. At that time I will get to hear the HB (they may try at the other appt, but it's doubtful I will be able to hear). You can make a list of questions to ask, depending on how you want to proceed w/ your prenatal care (episiotomy rates, when/how do they induce, C-sec. rate, ect.). You can also ask about your diet and what the Dr. recommends you eating and gaining durring your PG. I think the whole weight issue is really blown out of proportion. With both of my girls I have had extreme MS and not gained anything at all until after 20 weeks. Then I gain at leat 20lbs the last 20 weeks
Both my girls were really healthy, but I was really worried w/ #1 b/c I was SO sick, I was afraid I was not giving her enough nourishment. I think that babies take what they need, and if you have adequate nutrion you will be fine. Try to lay off any snack-y type foods, sugary drinks, stick w/ fruits and water to drink. It's also a good idea to take a prenatal vitamin. As long as you keep a healthy diet you should be fine. You can also excercise, like walking and some yoga. I would not recommend running or weights while PG. Squats are great! DO lots of those
Good Luck! Having a baby is exciting, and scary. It's normal to feel that way!

congrats on your pregnancy! I'm sure lots of wise mommas will chime in with weight advice, etc. My advice - just eat healthy but make sure you're getting enough for the baby too! Also exercise will help make you strong for labor. Try not to worry about it so much. (I know! Easier said than done!)

Ditto on the congrats!
I'd suggest checking a few good books out of your library. Just having some facts could help you understand what is going on a little bit more.
Here are some that I liked a lot:
Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth (and I read another one of hers that was mostly stories of births...anyone remember the name of that one?)
Henci Goer - The thinking womans guide to a better birth
Penny Simkin - Complete Guide to Pregnancy, Childbrith, and the Newborn (somthing like that?)
I found that reading about birth and pregnancy made things settle in a lot for me last time, as I started to imagine myself in the position of growing a baby and giving birth. Good luck!
