Play: Birth, Anyone doing it?

I received an email about the play "Birth" and how during the month of september there is no royalty fees. We would love to put this on in our area. Anyone seen this play? Or plan on putting it on in the fall? We are also doing the "red tent" event afterwards where everyone gets to talk about their birth stories.

also, where are some places we can look to put it on. The outdoor parks around here didn't seem to excited about it and the official theaters wouldn't be great for all the little kids. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

What about a local church?

We did consider a church but some people objected that we hold a birth type event in any one denomination since some are pagan, wiccan, jewish, etc. So I want to be respectful of that.

And most of the churches around here are too conservative to hold a play like this, I think. I called the local amphitheatre, they were like "what???" we don't think that kind of play would be appropriate for all ages? Whatever...:

Do you have a wellness center, yoga studio, chiropractor with a big office, midwives office, college or rental facilities... As far as the 'red tent' part of it - depending on how many people you have, you can do that anywhere ~ just alot of red fabric drapped over anywhere would work.. park cars in a circle 'old west wagon style' and there you go

I have seen Birth. It was awesome! It was staged at a small coffee shop/restaurant with the readers (actresses) sitting at the front of the room in a semi circle in directors chairs. That's it for a stage. It was powerful and moving and some of the stories made me cry. It's a very similar format to the Vagina Monologues, IMO.

where are smaller concerts played in your town? here there is one or 2 bars that also have a performance space seperate from the bar and one of them hosted the vagina monologues ... now we also have old theaters that have been revamped and they have a stage. Do you have a grange hall? or fair grounds that might have a building with a stage-- plenty of parking.

Last year when we did it we held it at a local university after our BirthNetwork conference. This year we rare doing it as a fundraiser but it will be more adult oriented....It will be held at a community theater and we are also having wine tasting and a silent auction. We are having a red tent event on a collage campus during the day.
