How and When are you telling...

So, how is everyone planning to tell the family of the upcoming new arrival? When do you plan to tell?

Right now we are undecided as to when we should tell. I am having a hard time not telling my best friend. Everyone else I can keep my mouth shut around, but she is PG, too, and so is her sister,a nd I just REALLY want to tell!!!!! We are going to try to wait until my fisrt appt. on June 12, then see how things go. Of course, if I get major MS like I have every other PG they might find out sooner.

I have no idea how to tell everyone. Since this is number 3, I'm kind of out of cutesy ideas. I'd really like to tell the girls someway special, though. My 4 year old is constantly asking for a new baby. This morning she asked her dad if he had any seeds to plant in my belly to grow a baby He just said maybe. She replied that he should make srue it's another girl seed b/c she wants a baby sister I was thinking of buying a really good book about babies, and reading it to them, then telling them. I just don't know if hty will grasp the whol 8 more months concept yet, KWIM? Family I am all out of ideas. DH says just don't tell and let them guess as I get bigger. I thought about letting the girls tell them...

Well, I suck at keeping things a secret I miscarried last Thanksgiving, and since then DH and DD have occasionally been saying stuff like, "If we have another baby, let's name it___________. Mama, what do you think?" I always said that I thought we should wait until there was an actual baby to discuss. I told them both that I was pregnant by bringing out the old baby name book and telling them that they could start to think about names now.

I helped my DD tell my mom. She's been thinking about planning a vacation, and DD asked her if she'd planned it yet. When she said no, DD told her to be sure not to plan one for the end of January. She knew we were going to be trying, so she got it right away

We haven't told anyone else yet, but I'm sure that we will very soon.

We've already told everyone. I really can't keep secrets... The last two times I found out I was pregnant, I told my mom on her birthday (October 4th). So, this time I just called her up and wished her a happy birthday (near the end of April). She just said, "uh-oh, is that what I think it is?" She was a little concerned because we've got them coming so close, and we're planning a move, etc. But she's totally excited for another grandbaby. I'm the oldest and only have one other married sister who's thinking of having kids sometime soon... but so far, my girls are the only grandchildren on both sides of the family, and the only great-grandchildren on my MILs side.

i'll probably wait till 3 or 4 months to tell any family. i have told a few close friends who i knew would be supportive..
im not sure how fast i wll show this time.. so i guess if i start getting big ill have to either say im getting really fat or having a baby. right now im happy with just dp and i knowing. its still sinking in for us. i do want to tell my kids but my 4 year old is a big talker and im not really into him telling before im ready..so guess i will wait to tell him as well.

as for how.... i think im going to get my baby girl a "big sister" t-shirt

We're waiting until I'm 12 weeks or so, we waited with our other two. Just our personal preference. It does seem like its been harder to keep it a secret this time, for some reason.
We haven't even told the kids yet b/c they'd blab to everyone! We are going to tell them first, we'll probably bring them along to my first prental appt. and tell them before we go. That way they'll get to hear the heartbeat, and hopefully that will make it more concrete.
My parents, well once the kids know we'll just let them break the news. In-laws, we'll probably send an email out at some point as that seem to be the only way they communicate.

Well we've been trying for soooo long and sooo many people have been praying for us, that I just couldn't NOT tell! Okay, so we just found out yesterday but we told our parents and siblings and all my best girl friends. I work at a children's home and so we are very close to all our staff, it's like our extended family. I have a doc appointment on Tuesday and my hubby said we can tell everyone else on Tuesday. We also have 10 boys who live with us, ages 12&13, and we'll tell them on Tues as well.

I'm one who wants to celebrate every moment of this pregnancy, no matter if something were to happen. I feel like it's a baby either way, no matter how long (not being depressing, just saying how it is). So that's my story!

We were planning to wait until 12 weeks to tell dd and everyone else. However, I have been pretty sick, so we felt like dd deserved to know why. And since we told her, she's been telling pretty much everyone that she's going to be a big sister!

I would also like to mention that we only told a couple of people with our first pregnancy. When I ended up miscarrying it was almost harder to explain to people why I was so upset. My cousin noticed I was feeling a bit sad and tried to cheer me up by showing me her ultrasound photos... NOT what I needed.

its hard for me not to tell people. especially dd and my best friends < one knows, she gave me the test >. but i told dh id like to wait to tell anyone until about july. hes really excited and seemed a little upset that i wanted to wait, so i told him if he felt he absolutely had to tell someone he could. but i wanted to wait.

i guess i worry about "jinxing" things.

We are also waiting to tell until about 12 weeks or so. I am not sure how we are going to tell our parents. With ds's pregnancy we announced close to Christmas so we sent the annual requested "Christmas Wish List" with things like diapers, crib, stroller, etc. Of coarse, FIL wanted to know why we needed these things for our dog. So, obviously, this time around we can't wait until Christmas to tell. I thought about calling and saying we have bad news - we won't be able to make it to visit for Christmas. Then hopefully the reason why will cheer them up again. But I am still thinking of ways to tell.

I really like this idea!!! We might actually use it. We will see my family in-person and probably tell them then, but we will have to call my in-laws and it's our year to be with them for christmas.....hmmmm....

Hi everyone!

Well, I told my parents, brother, and in-laws the day I found out, as well as my two best friends. DH obviously couldn't hold in his excitement and told a couple more friends himself. (He works away from home for two weeks out of the month, so we haven't even seen each other since I found out.) I plan to wait until we have another u/s and (hopefully) hear the heartbeat next Friday (June 1st). There's simply no way that I could wait until 12 weeks--not only can I NOT keep a secret that long, I'm SURE that I'll be showing by then!
