I lurk here a lot and have never really gotten involved, but I got a great deal of information from the uc birth forum when I was pregnant and wanted to post our story hoping it would be helpful to others like reading everyone else's stories was for me.
I got pregnant last March right before our big move to Italy, we are a military family. I was offline for most of the summer and fall and really missed the uc birth forum here and all the other wonderful sites.
I was due December 18th but had told everyone the 25th since I was 16 days over with ds2 and did not want to endure all the pressure and threats and comments I had before. On the night of December 22nd I finally had serious and regular ctx instead of the bh I had been having for a week. We went to the grocery store and had fun with the big boys and we all went to bed around 10. I got up around 1 am because it was no longer comfortable to lay down through the ctx. I woke dh and talked with him and we decided to fill the pool to see if it made the laboring more comfortable. My ctx were intense, but not really regular. We filled the pool and the water was great.ds2 woke up and I nursed him in the pool for awhile and he went back to sleep. DH took him to bed and they napped together for a few hours while I wandered the house and did some last minute puttering around. At around 30 I told dh things were serious. The boys woke up and were so thrilled to see a pool in the living room. They got in with me and we all played, but the ctx were getting increasingly more intense and I didn't want the boys on me and eventually I asked dh to get them out of the pool because I needed space. ds1 got mad and ran off to the bedroom, but ds2 just watched me. Then I got the uncontrollable urge to push. I got on hands and knees and started pushing and growling with the effort. ds2 was standing at the side of the pool saying grab my hand mama.
Then dh said, he could see the head and turned to talk to ds2. The next contraction, our sweet baby shot out and across the pool, I scooped him up and sat down to cuddle him. I looked and said it's a boy and we called ds1 in. Both boys got in the pool with us to welcome the baby and dh grabbed the camera. It was amazing and wonderful. He cried right away and I massaged him and sang him happy birthday him as he pinked up and began to look around.
Here are a couple pictures.

Our only issue was that we needed paperwork to register his birth here in Italy and we needed to do that t get his bc. So, we went into the hospital about 1230, 4 hours after he was born. The doc was enraged, but calm and said he would not do the paperwork but wanted to do a bunch of things to me and baby. They also wanted to keep the baby for 24 hours without me in the nursery where they admitted he would be checked on once an hour. I refused and we signed out ama. Well the military put us through hell, but we finally got it all sorted out and got him legal.
Here he is at 4 months old and 25 pounds.
