I have a cold

I can't believe this. I woke up today with a scratchy throat, and over the course of the day it has blossomed into a full-blown sore throat that hurts when I swallow, a runny nose and watery eyes, the whole nine yards. I CANNOT BE SICK RIGHT NOW! I am 39 weeks as of today, feeling contractions constantly throughout the day, and really ready for labor to start. My big fear is that this stupid cold is going to somehow delay the onset of labor and send me into post-dates land, which since I am diabetic will probably mean induction. No, no, no! NO COLD! Cannot be sick!

Sigh. Has anyone else dealt with a nasty virus when they were about to go into labor (or actually in labor)? How did it affect things, if at all? I am so irritated about this.

JanB, I know exactly how you feel. I had a cold last week (I was 38w2d). I was hoping I would not go into labor, how awful would that be. I am just starting to feel better but I still need to get my strength up before I deliver.

I just tried to take care of myself the best I can with an active 3 year old running around. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

: Yep, I'm right there with ya, got a cold yesterday. My throat is scratchy and my nose is runny. I've taken extra vit C and keep having hot tea with echinacea and other good herbs in it. It's no wonder I got sick after my past few days - big doings for my MIL's 70th b'day. But - argh!

If I feel sinus pressure I'll use my neti pot...but it sure doesn't sound appealing at 39w5d...
