Finally! This labor and birth was like the others and unlike it.
I had been having regular 15 20 minute contractions from 4 in the morning last Thurs. The hospital MW called to check up on me Fri morning since I canceled my last two appts (I knew they would say I was overdue and I wasn't ready for that kind of talk) and wanted me to come in to be "evaluated".I wasn't interested in that either.I woke up on Sat and the contractions had stopped.
: I broke down and cried while I took a shower and decided that I would go in on Mon for the "evaluation" and likley induction talk since by then according to them I would be 41 weeks.
Even the daipers I had ordered had finally made it. I made plans to take my mom and sister to Hanama bay and snorkel on Sat. and then we were going to go to the North Shore for dinner and a cruise night. We had a good time at the beach and I got some last belly pics against the Bay.Right at 6:30 my contractions started getting more fierce and and were at 10 to five minutes apart, but I thought maybe I could still get away with dinner since I had been through this Cinco de Mayo weekend and got no baby.I realized that I neededto go home because I was getting grouchy with people because they were standing in my path ti the car and I felt that I couldn't risk going around them.(I even yelled at my mom not to stand in front of me
)The contractions were getting stonger. We got home at about 7 and I just walked in and went right to the bathroom. As I walked through my bedroom door my water broke but most of it went into the toilet. My mom and sister came upstairs and I told them how to make up the bed.I had gone over it with my sister the night before.DH asked if I should take a shower since we had just been at the beach but I knew I wasn't gonna be able to do that.My mom had just asked me if I needed help getting to the bed and all I could do was groan at her because I felt the urge to push.I leaned over the sink but felt that was too high for me so I shut the lid and leaned over the toilet.I felt his head and held it as I pushed and my mom rushed in with a towel and caught the rest of him.He was born at 7:20 pm HI time on May 18.I think the placenta was bigger than him.
I cut the cord.He nurses very well and we are both healthy. His siblings all want to hold him.He is so tiny when I think about all the room he took up.
We named him Keoni Ezekiel.Keoni is the Hawaiian form of John and my other two sons also are forms of John.
I am so glad that I was able to have a low tech UC labor and birth.
