As some of you may remember, my oldest was chosen to be on the volunteer cast for the VARF. You may also remember that I was quite concerned about sewing up his clothes. Well guess what?! Not only did I do a reasonable job, but he looks mightly handsome.
Some of you may also remember that he was previously ps'd which harmed his gentle personality. This whole experience has brought him out and has made a drastic effect on his self worth.
NOW onto the good stuff
OMG this past weekend was soooooo much fun. We have never been to a Ren Faire, or any reinactment for that matter. I've been overall very impressed with the process, and this weekend I got to be a patron and enjoy the merriment. I don't remember when I've had so much fun and didn't wish for the fun to stop. We were dog tired at end of day, but we felt so content.
This is an educational faire, so it is a bit different than other Ren Faires (so I am reminded often), it's much smaller, more intimate, so much learning (without knowing it) going on, and everyone in period clothes, or not, are welcomed to particpate, and in some cases encouraged. If you decide to go, dress in comfortable shoes, for you may find yourself dancing, learning archery, and doing so much and staying all day.
The Patrons even "touched me". I was just in awe with the warm spirits that were abound all around. Watching "light bulb" moments with the Patrons, esp. the children was so amaizing. I even was part of one persons "light bulb" moment, that was when I 'GOT IT" myself.
I'm so very grateful to my oldest for asking to try out, and encouraging me through my fumbling in making his clothes. I do hope the magick touches everyone that decides to visit...or join in future years. I know that I have been offically touched by the Magick.
Thanks for letting me prattle on about our weekend, I could really say so much more, but I don't wish to make any more eyese glaze over.

The kids have already said they want to do this again next year, and they insist we go to the MD faire.
