Welcome to the boards! There is a great forum for 'learning at home and beyond', which you should check out (if you haven't already!).

Hi and welcome! We are planning to homeschool our two boys too but they're just babies now. We are thinking of moving to NC. We are in NH. Check out the geographical area forums in Finding Your Tribe too! So many good forums here!

Welcome!! Where in NC are you? I live in Cary. I'm seriously looking into Homeschooling. My children are a bit young now, but would love to know more about your HS experiences in NC. Glad you're here!!

Thanks ladies!

daekini-I am near Charlotte too!

Andiad-I haven't been homeschooling that long. I thought about Homeschooling before my son was ready for school but my DH wasn't 100% into it. When my son's b-day was past the cut off for PS I jumped into HS right away. I told DH I wanted to catch him up so when school started again he would be put in his rightful grade (1st). Sadly DH is still trying to push PS on us. He thinks I can't teach our son what he would be learning in school (meaning he doesn't think I can do it). He is also concerned about socialization problems. But little by little DH is seeing that he is wrong. I have to say family is the hardess to deal with on this matter. I was amazed at how many ppl I run into in NC who homeschool. It was frustrating in the beginning not knowing where to begin. But with the the help of the library, www, now the info I am getting from here and the progress my son is making :! Good luck with whatever decision you make!

Hey NC ladies, this is kind of off-topic but how is NC in the winter? I suffer from SAD here in NH and we are considering moving to NC largely to escape the long, cold, oppressive winters. We would probably move to the Cary area. What is it like there in the winter?

And Liz, you will LOVE the homeschool forum here! It is so great! Try reading these recent threads to get good ideas for explaining homeschooling to skeptics like your DH.

I personally love the weather here!! I've always felt like NC has 4 distinct seasons. I grew up in Cary and recently moved back, so feel free to ask any questions you have or PM me.
