Do you go to the homeschool conference every year??

This is our first year homeschooling, and I went to the conference last year, but I am not sure that I need to go this year. I am still very excited about homeschooling, and I bought so much last year that I really don't need to go to buy curriculum, and it's $70.00. The money isn't really an issue, I just keep thinking of other things I could do with the money instead (musuem membership,...) I can't decide. Do you go every year??

I do. I like the workshops and seeing all the vendors. I like to be able to touch and look at things I am considering. I also like to discover all the new things available.

I budget for the convention every year. As long as I can afford it I will go.

I'd like to go to one. I just haven't found one that is a good fit. The one here in town is very religious-based and we are not....

I've never been to one.

I've never been to one, either.

Last year was my first one too and I really enjoyed it. I'm going this yr too but it's only $20 for 2 days. I'm going to get remotivated and hear Jim Weiss speak again.
For $70 I think I'd skip it if you didn't really feel the need to go though. I'd use it for the museum membership, etc.

Thank you. This one is very religious based as well, but there are many non-religious vendors and speakers. It last 2.5 days and it's sponsored by CHEC.

This is our 5th year hsing, and I've never been to one. I'm going to go to the resource fair at the end of the month, 1st one I've been to. There is a large, 2 day, really expensive conference that the christian organization puts on, I've never been and wouldn't consider it.

The secular org I belong to has sometimes put on a small conference, they brought John Taylor Gatto in a few years back, but I didn't know about it until last minute and couldn't afford it That was the year they had a really ambitious and well organized president. Usually everyone involved in the org is too busy to put on a conference.

I don't think I'm missing much. For $70, I'd expect foot rubs and a tiara

We've attended the Live and Learn Unschooling conference for the past two years, and will be attending this year as well (i can't imagine a yr when we won't be going!)....its in NC this year, and will likely be for a couple more at least. It was the most amazing, inspiring, fun weekends ever and my son made some really good friends that he will get to see year after year (and keeps in touch with on the computer.)

If anyone wants to see "unschoolers in action" i would totally recommend this conference.

We always plan on going but the big one around here is held every Memorial Day weekend and we always have something to do. We were going to go this year and my parents called week before last and said they wanted to come visit. So we'll get there eventually..

Of course I figure if I go I'll just be more torn about what to do next year! I've settled on a curriculum and I think I'd be too overwhelmed by all the cool stuff at a place like that and I'd change my mind 400 times over!
