Car Harnesses and Vests

So, my carseat search has lead me to harnesses, that use the seat belt or latch system in combination with a booster seat. Does anyone own one of these, are they worth it. I can afford $100 in the future. Here's a link to one.

IMO, it's worth it! I don't own one, but when my son gets old enough, I will. I just saw a video on another website, about this lady's son who died when his seat belt unsnapped after their car flipped, and he was only in a booster seat. The harness would have saved his life.

: What kid is gunna wear that?

That looks really cool. I don't understand PP asking what kid is "Gunna Wear That" I think it looks a lot more comfortable than a car seat. And yes, My son is definitely "Gunna" wear one of those!! (car seat)

This looks awesome! My son is in the Marathon but when he outgrows it I am soooo interested in getting one of these. The boosters just don't seem that safe.

Both of my youngest children have used RideSafer vests. I needed them for car pooling because it was virtually impossible to fit three kids in boosters in the back of my old car (Volvo station wagon). We also took them on vacation with us instead of boosters as they were much more packable. The children really didn't mind wearing them, especially at first, although after a week of using them in a rental car the novelty wore off! They are more work than a booster, you have to get the kid in it, then it takes a couple of minutes to buckle them in, but they have impressive crash test ratings and for travel, and tight spots, they are definitely worth it.

If you want to use the vest for various reasons, car pooling in different cars, travel etc, I would go with the RideSafer vest because it can be used both with a lap/shoulder belt and a lap belt only (but it must be tethered).

I have those too, and the kids don't really like them. They claim it is uncomfortable. It is hard to install too.

Thanks guys. I was wondering about ease of use being an issue. Sometimes, we are in a big hurry and I want to make sure its something I can use within minutes or seconds.
Right now my DS rides in an Over the head shield Convertiable, and it takes me about 10 seconds to get him secure properly in it. Sometimes not fast enough for my DF but that's another issue all together.
