What is a Fair Price? - Page 2

$10 per hour would be really high around here but this sounds more like a nanny gig. and if she is going to be schlepping them all over and expected to really entertain them that really drives the price up high. most people here just use a center or group situation which is considerably cheaper. i pay $4 an hour for three children and she drives herself. and she is amazing. she is young but i think age has nothing to do with it.

When I worked at a daycare for 2 years, I was getting paid $10/hour and for my area that's good. We had our daycare split up between the toddlers, preppies, and pre-k alongside our after school program.

The parents would have prepared 2 meals- breakfast[optional] and lunch and 2 snacks [for 10am and 3:30pm]. Since our daycare opened at 7am and closed at 6pm... movie-time was from 5 until the last child left and if they were good they would get a mini-cup of cheerios or pretzels and hot days, ice pops.

It depends on the price of everything else. When I lived in Seattle, I made between $12 and $15/hr as a nanny. I drove to their house every day, but then drove their car if I took the kids somewhere. Now I'm in eastern Washington and people would think I had two heads if I asked $12-$15/hr. I make less than that working professionally now. But the cost of living is about 1/2 what it was in Seattle.
