How often do you get your teeth cleaned?

I hear twice a year is what you are suppose to do but do people really do this? 'Course, I do and I take all my kids twice a year. Just curious as to what other people do...

I go twice a year. I take my kids twice a year. Dh goes whenever he gets around to it - once a year is pretty good for him.

I don't do exams and x-rays very often though. Too expensive and I really don't find it necessary to do as often as they'd like.

Bad teeth run in my family and I am determined to avoid the dental problems that my mother and grandmother suffer from.

I get my teeth cleaned religiously every 6 months. I get exrays once a year (except while pregnant). I brush twice a day and floss daily.

The dentist always thanks me for being his easiest patient of the day.

I go every 6 months too.

Twice a year. DH takes off work to watch the kiddos. I figure it's an excellent investment of time and money-- if I skipped them and wound up needing extensive dental work, THAT would take a lot away from the family's coffers.

I am embarressed to say.
Not often enough

It was 2x a year, until I had DD....haven't been in almost a year now, though, so I'll need to go soon.

Before I met DH, I hadn't been in almost 10 years (no ins. and didn't set aside the $$ for it). When I finally went and admitted the truth, they were shocked since my teeth still looked great. I chalk that up to good genes, but I won't be going that long again, believe me .

twice a year.

I go once a year. I think my new dentist suggested coming in twice a year. I should check for sure.

: I haven't been in over three years. We don't have any insurance....I know, I know, I know. I need to just go, but it doesn't help we are always broke. : My kids go every 6mos because, unlike DH and I, they have insurance.

Every 6 months. My teeth suck.

Every six months but I am fortunate that my husband's job provides excellent insurance benefits. If it didn't, I'd probably go once a year, maybe less.

I go twice a year.

Annually. They said we don't have to go more than that. *insert gleaming teeth smiley*

I haven't been in about 2 years. I've never had a cavity or any other dental problem and the visits are just a big waste of time and money for me. I do plan on going again if I ever get dental insurance, but I'm not going to pay just to have somebody tell me I still have perfect teeth.

Okay, I'm going to scold most of you!!!! : We are all getting older and are teeth are getting older. Plus, we've all had kids, which doesn't help our teeth. Everyone should go at least 2x a yr and have regular x-rays OR ELSE!!!! Or else you could end up like me. I kept missing my cleaning...then I started to get this HORRENDOUS pain...went in and I had an infected tooth. The pain got worse and I was popping codeine until I could get in the next day. I swear the pain was worse than labor. I was besides myself. So now I have to have a root canal. ALL because I let it go!!!! Now, instead of just paying maintenence...the root canal is going to be $1800!!!!!! excuse my language but WTF??????: : luckily I have insurance, but I still am going to have to pay $800 out of pocket. SO GO TO THE DENTIST!!!! :

Yeah, I let 3 of my cavitys go and ended up with a root canal on one tooth. This was in March. With all my teeth work I had done this year, it cost $2000! Root canal's are expensive. But the root canal wasn't bad at all. But that is besides the point!

Blech! I have gone 1x in the last 8 years. No insurance, no $ (we're not even making enough $ to pay our house payment right now). After tons of cavities in my preteen years, I haven't had any as an adult. The hygenist and dentist couldn't believe it had been so long since I had a cleaning because my teeth looked so good.
