I kept missing my cleaning...then I started to get this HORRENDOUS pain...went in and I had an infected tooth. The pain got worse and I was popping codeine until I could get in the next day. I swear the pain was worse than labor. I was besides myself. So now I have to have a root canal. ALL because I let it go!!!! Now, instead of just paying maintenence...the root canal is going to be $1800!!!!!! excuse my language but WTF??????: : luckily I have insurance, but I still am going to have to pay $800 out of pocket. SO GO TO THE DENTIST!!!! :
That's my story too. It happened when I was pregnant too, and they had to give me the short-acting anesthetic resulting in having to be stuck with needles at least 10 times at each of my 4 visits (one on DS's birthday and one on the day I went into labor : ). I need to go make my tooth-cleaning appointment! You'd think I hadn't learned my lesson

Twice a year!

I gave in to having x-rays done today and I'm feeling like I betrayed myself. Why does it need to be done so often (it's been two years)? Especially when I've never even had a cavity in my life!!!

At one point I was going every 3 months. It really worked--I went from having early-stage gingivitis (measurable pockets) to nice healthy gums and clean teeth. Then I went down to every 6.

I've been really bad about it since moving here--I finally had it done after 2 years *gulp* Dental care is so bad here though, a standard NHS exam doesn't include X-rays! I had to go private to have the hygienist clean my teeth.

As for bad teeth... all of mine are filled, I have 9 crowns, 7 root canals, 1 apicoectomy, 3 bouts of oral surgery, 7 years of braces and all my wisdom teeth were impacted. All before 30

PS - yes, I brush! it's genetic.
