just curious which dye you are using? Is it the dye from Dharma? And whats the fabric? cotton/silk/etc?

The Dharma people are great with help via email. They also have step-by-step instructions on their website AND in their print catalog. I had the catalog right next to me in the bathroom when I was dying for the first time, since I didnt' want to risk getting any dye on my computer!

1) pre-wash and probably skip the dryer
2) follow instructions on package/web site. "just do it"

if it does not look right, you can always dye it darker!

Yeah - I just went for it, even though I was intimidated. I printed their tutorial so I could have it by the washing machine, and followed each step (after I read it first, about 10 times). It worked marvelously.

Yay! I remember those first few batches I dyed and the uncertainty. But it is so much fun to unwrap tie-dyes that have been waiting overnight to discover what you created!
