Anyone specificially TTC a girl? - Page 6

I would like to TTC a girl, but more than anything I just want to see if I can even GET pregnant. I have always wanted a daughter very badly (my mom and I are soooo close), and I wouldn't mind having one girl and one boy, or two girls, but I don't think I could handle multiple boys and no daughter. Even so, with the first baby I'm not going to be as picky because I just want *A* baby, ya know? It seems like it's not that easy for us to conceive, so we may as well "take what we can get" the first time around.

I was gently trying for a girl, but since my first cycle didn't pan out, I'm switching to just trying for a baby and seeing what happens. I had some very conflicted feelings about trying for a specific gender and I'm trying to let go of that now and just see what happens.

I might try to cut down on salt and eat more vegetables, but I'm tossing aside timing concerns and cranberry tablets and other things of that nature. I'm scared (for no concrete reason) that we might have trouble conceiving and I don't want to stack any more odds against us by trying things the hard way, you know?

If the man runs more than 20 miles per week your odds go up to around 60% for a girl.

Can you tell my dh is a marathoner?

Wow, where do you hear that from? If that's true I wonder why that is. My husband and I are both pretty lazy when it comes to exercise.

CRANBERRY=GIRL?!?! maybe that explains my DD LOL

my whole point of drinking cranberry juice while TTC was to hopefully avoid having yeasties like I did my ENTIRE pregnancy with DS

I also REALLY wanted a GIRL but I had NO idea cranberry was 'supposed' to do that!!!!

I guess I got what I wanted either way right?

I haven't heard that specific statistic, but basically, anything that's going to increase heat in the groin region, or bring the overall body temperature up significantly, is going to tilt things in favor of a girl. Bicyclists I think are supposed to have a high proportion of girls. Also submariners, supposedly!

We're very loosely TTC a girl. I tried the cranberry supplements for a couple of practice cycles and decided I wasn't comfortable with them. They made my CM go from copious to nonexistent. I'm all for tilting the odds, but that was a little too tilted for my taste. I have enough CM usually that just timing *should* be fine.

My dd was conceived from a single act 5-6 days before O, so I happen to agree with the timing factor.

You make a regular weblink with the weblink button, but instead of descriptive text, you use the code for the smiley.

And mountain climbers...that whole harness thingy. My father and all his climbing buddies all had girls.

I would prefer girls (I had 3 sisters, and wouldn't know what to do with a boy). I like the cranberry idea, as I used to take the stuff fairly regularly to help prevent UTIs, even kicked one or two without antibiotics that way. My tragic lack of EWCM makes me nervous, though, I agree with whoever above said they would be happy just being able to conceive. On the plus side, hubby is a runner. Here's hoping.

So I'm still here, in the 2 week wait. No clue WHEN I ovulated, or if I even did. (Just got off BC in December and still breastfeeding a boobaholic 27 month old.) One more week until AF usually shows...

My DH used to be an avid Mountain biker!

Ok, the sperm thing has to do with a consistent temperature in the scrotum that's at or above body temperature. Sperm like a degree or two below body temp best, and since the Y sperm are more fragile (faster, but more fragile) Anything that creates a less than ideal environment kills the Y sperm first.

That's also why making secretions more accidic favors X sperm, becasue the Y sperm die and are therefore no competition!

And I think I now qualify for most frequent use of the word 'sperm' in any one post!

We're kinda sorta trying for a girl. But I have PCOS and am taking clomid, so we're not going to do anything that might jeopardize our chances of conceiving at all.

Just ordered some test strips. I can't wait to test my ladygoo!
How exactly do you test with the pH strips? I've heard some ladies say they tested urine and some say they testthe CM...how do you accurately test the CM?
How much cranberry extract should I take around the time of ovulation? I bought the only cranberry extract bottle at the pharmacy and it's 9000mg (yes, nine thousand). When I went to another pharmacy, the strongest they had was 500mg.

I don't want to take something too strong, nor too weak. The ph strips were too expensive for me, so I'm wondering if there is an approximate amount that can approximately lead to the desired acidity of my CM. Anyone know?

Thanks tons!
