There is this great little indoor park by my house that I frequently take my kids to. It's perfect for super hot or cold or rainy days and the mom's that I have met there have all been wonderful. This a.m. I decided to meet a friend there for a few hours and let our kids play together. As I was leaving the house, my 4 mo. old baby was starting to get fussy and I made her a bottle (she's adopted, but by now you probably all know that. 
) which she promptly refused and fell asleep in my arms within 30 seconds (she was just tired, not hungry). So, before I loaded the kids in the car, I put the bottle in a warmer because I know she'd be getting hungry as soon as we arrived, and off we went.
When I got there, I forgot to bring the bottle in with me and started to walk out the front door holding my baby. There was a new employee at the front door that I hadn't seen before and she immediately started fussing over how beautiful my dd is (I have to agree!). I told her that she was getting fussy and needed to eat and I politely excused myself. She immediately stopped me with a look of horror on her face and said, "OMG!! You can nurse her in here! You don't have to be modest. Nobody here but us group of girls!" I just stood there in awe of this woman and said, "Thank you SO MUCH!! I wish that I was able to nurse her, but she is adopted. I left her bottle in my car, so I have to go get it." Well, she was so relieved to hear that because she just couldn't believe that I was going to my car to nurse. That prompted a 3 or 4 minute discussion on how much I support NIP and how mother's should not have to cover themselves (another woman chimed in with an "I NEVER covered myself. I'm not modest!" remark) and I told her "GOOD! You shouldn't have to! Nor should you be forced into a bathroom stall with your child to eat!" I also said that I would totally be "whipping it out" if I could to NIP, but alas I can't do that.
Anyway, then the new employee at the door said, "And legally it would be your right to do so anywhere you wanted!" The other employee said, "REALY?" and we both stood there and gave her an education on her legal rights.
As an adoptive mama, I felt so proud having this discussion and I think the women at the door were as equally impressed that I knew so much on the subject as an adoptive mama. I told them that I induced lactation for DD#2 and both of their jaws hit the floor and one of them said, "I NEVER knew you could even do that!" (and she was the apparent lactivist!). I just explained how I did have milk, but nowhere near the amount that it would have taken to support life.
She just kept saying "WOW!" over and over.
