Post Partum Check Ups

What did your midwife/doctor do at your post partum check ups? At my 2 week all that they did was check my weight and bp and ask me a few questions (about birth control, nursing, if I was depressed). I was wondering why I even went, they could have asked me that over the phone. I know they checked my uterus and stitches with my 1st dd (it was a different midwife). Just curious.

I know they could ask that stuff over the phone, but sometimes they just need to see you. One, if you had a problem (stitch pain, breast/nipple issues) they would need to see that. Two, over the phone you might say no to depression, but in person the provider could also look at you and see if you are showing signs of it even though you say no.

My doc does 6 week post partum exams (mine is on Monday). She'll do a pap, discuss mood, do a pap, prescribe birth control per my desire, look at my breasts, and she'll also check my blood work for my hypothyroidism.
