FORMULA changed her mind? Follow-up, please?

A few months ago, someone posted here that a friend of hers, who was adamant about using formula, decided to bf when she tasted the formula before giving birth. What happened with that? How's she doing? I'm dying to know!

Wow, that's awesome someone was so honest with herself about it. I can't imagine tasting it but oh god, the smell! I dumped a package down the drain after feeding DS a tiny bit (on doctor's orders, big weight drop after birth - which made him vomit) I nearly threw up as well from the fumes of it!

It's gross. I remember having to suck it through my SNS to get it flowing and blech. It tastes like it smells. There was a reason DD used to give me a dirty look when it was formula not BM.

I've tasted it (by accident, it was on my fingers while I was making bottles for one of my not-by-choice ff babies a few years back) and believe me it is GAWD AWFUL and now that I EBF my fifth just the smell of it makes me gag!!!

I wonder if I can use this tactic on my sister? She is due in August for her fourth and is adamant herself about not BF'ing and FF'ing instead.

I don't know, but I thought formula and breastmilk both tasted fairly gross, and neither smelled bad. : If you're used to cow's milk, human milk (or approximations thereof) are pretty thin and sweet in comparison.

Really? I have never tasted formula, but I think that breastmilk tastes like the milk left over after you eat a bowl of sugary cereal. I didn't think it was that bad.

My breastmilk tastes awful, gag and rinse your mouth out awful...like metallic soap scum. And that's when it's fresh, even.

My son doesn't seem to mind though!

mine seemed flavorless...i have never really seen formula be used, so i don't know...

My bm tastes different depending on what I eat. ( I have tasted it once, but it is my dh who informed me of this ) I think it is sweet most of the time but one time dh said it tasted metallic.

I babysit for a FF girl and the smell is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!! Can't muster up the courage to taste it. Maybe I will this weekend.

I've supplemented with about... 8 women's breastmilk, plus my own. I usually have to taste a little bit here and there to make sure its okay (sometimes its not clear how long it has been frozen...) to feed my child.

I've tasted a huge range of flavors. generally fairly sweet. Sometimes gritty. Sometimes thin. The milk batch we were using today looked and smelled like melted ice cream... super thick and sweet

Wow, I'm surprised about people not liking the taste of human milk. I guess everyone's MUST be different, because mine is like something you'd want to use to sweeten your tea or coffee. It's YUMMY.

DS doesn't want to drink cow's milk, and after tasting my own milk, I can see why!

I must eat more fruit and other sweet things than some of the rest of you. (The reference to metallic makes me think some of you have milk that's higher in iron than mine.)

Mine seemed pretty sweet to me, sort of like a slightly less sweet whipped cream, like the ones that come in the aersol can. If I could get past what it was, I wouldn't mind drinking it myself.

Mine reminds me of coconut milk! It is sweet, but I eat lets of fruit! And very little if any meat.(mostly fish) Formula smells and tastes absolutly gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!
