Another sister....

Don't know if you all now, but I've turned my sister into an intactivst (she has a 13 month old daughter so far). Well now we've turned our other sister into an intactivst too!!!! She doesn't have any kids yet and hopefully not for awhile. Luckily it didn't take much education. My sister had told her all she found out from looking it up on her own plus things I had sent her. So she had told me that she talked to her and she said she probably wouldn't get it done if she ever has a son. Well yesterday we were at the mall and was talking about it and I asked her if she would and she made this nasty face and said "no, why would I?" So thank goodness, another family member I don't have to worry about when they get pregnant! At least some good has come from making the mistake on my DS!

That's great! Good job!

You know my worry a lot of times is women who wouldn't normally want it done but are bullied by their husbands into doing. There were a number of those on my 'due in' boards. It made me sad. Hopefully your sister is a strong woman. I know if I'd had a partner who insisted there is NO way I would have let that happen, even if it meant a court order!

My sister with a baby has her b/f on board with her, so that won't be a problem. My new intactivst sister is a strong girl so I'm sure her future DH or b/f (she better not have a baby with the guy she's with now, he's a doof) will be ok too....HOPING. But she's got time anyway.

Yay!

I am so worried about this.....DH's sister is pregnant again. She had a girl the first time and when I brought up circumcision she said it was "something she'd have to talk to her boyfriend about." I took that as I think he is intact (from Mexico) and she would have to talk him INTO circ'ing. I told her we didn't circ Keegan and she didn't have much to say. I am going to send her a some information, I just hope I can get through to her before it's too late! She doesn't know what she is having this time but says she has a feeling it's a boy.

I turned my 18 yo (cut) brother into an intactivist.

He was asking some questions so I fed him the whole schpiel.

He said that he didn't plan on circumcising his sons, but he didn't know how awful it was until I showed him the video. He also said he was mad at Dad for taking his choice away

And my mom was sad that my dad bullied her into something she really didn't want to do

My 16yo sister is an intactivist, too. I never really talked to her about it, but she says that when my ds was born, and we all discussed it then, she was evidently listening, and decidewd that she wouldn't circumcise any of her children. Then, when she learned more later, she became even more against it.
Now she's busily informing the teenage population. She's almost got her best friend convinced, and tells everyone she knows about it.
I'm glad- so many adults are set in their ways, but teenagers seem to be more open to the idea that a different idea is not a bad one, and more willing to listen.

With my sister with a baby already, we had talked about it before she was even pregnant because she knew how I learned we made a mistake by having our DS circ'ed. But she still said she would circ for the same reasons uninformed parents give. Then when she was pregnant we talked more about it and she actually looked it up on her own and told me she didn't think she wanted to do it but her b/f wanted it done. She asked me to send her more info, so I did and she decided they weren't going to, but they had a girl. But now....she's totally changed.....both her and her b/f are sooooo against it! Before to her, it was like no big deal...parents do it, whatever....now she's definately in intactivst....I love it! And I'm surprised her b/f feels the same way because he's not the type, ya know. The other sister, I really had nothing to do with, that was all my other sisters doing, lol. YAY for her! My other sister is all into natural stuff (anti-meds, etc etc) and we had a conversation awhile back, probably over a year ago and Viagra was mentioned....so I asked her if she thought that had anything to do with the circ rate being so high among the men that "need" Viagra.... so she was pretty interested in that conversation. So I think that maybe made her think about the whole thing. Anyway, I'll shut up now.
