Schools in L.C.? Pasadena? Glendale?

I doubt there is anyone who *might* know this, but I'd like any opinions anyone has out there on preschools and elementary schools in La Canada, private ones preferably. I know La Canada is a tiny town but perhaps someone out there knows of something nearby... or has suggestions? I know there's some great ones in west LA but that's a drive for us...

Delphi is pricey, but has an excellent rep.

For adolescent boys, St. Francis is an all-boys school that has an excellent rep. There is a Waldorf school out there in Pasadena also.

If you are looking only at private schools, visit at Sequoyah and Walden!

I would not recommend the Pasadena Waldorf school, but then again I would not recommend any Waldorf school. Sequoyah and Walden schools both incorporate all of the same positive elements of Waldorf education *without* Waldorf's inhumane disciplinary techniques, shockingly eurocentric approach to academics, and rigid mimicry based "sit very still and copy the teacher's art and writing off the chalkboard" curriculum.

We cannot afford private school tuition, and so our son will start kindergarten in the fall at a progressive, multi-age charter school (Odyssey) located in Pasadena but chartered by the County Board of Education, not PUSD.

My husband and I are thrilled beyond belief. Had we not found Odyssey, I'm sure we would be homeschooling. The teachers and administrators are amazing, and in addition to an educational philosophy we wholeheartedly embrace, Odyssey offers a true racial, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity impossible to find in most private schools.
