To add to my BUSY babymoon....

I just received my hospital bill for my labor and delivery. We have no insurance(long story) so we have to pay everything ourselves. Too bad there's no midwife in my area that could have saved us lots of $$$ by doing a homebirth for us.

$8200 for me
$2100 for baby

This isn't including the Dr fee itself. UGH!!!!

We found out 5 days after my son was born that I didn't have medical insurance. It really sucked - hey at least you knew going in. LOL. Look on the bright side?

But seriously - that is so much money. I can't believe how much hospitals charge.

We got financial aid from our hospital, so we got a 15% discount. It was a lot of work - but worth the 15%.

Not to butt into your DDC, but be sure to get an itemized bill. Lots of times they charge you for things they never did. (Like charging for an epi or a circ when there wasn't one)

Yeah, the hospital is going to "work" with us. We refused a few things in the hospital JUST because of the cost issue. (like the hearing screen....not necessary) So after we jump thru hoops, the hospital will be giving us a "charity discount", if we qualify. Nuts huh? I guess this med bill can go in the stack with the several others......until later.:

Yeah, I was actually gonna get one. The bill I got was sorta itemized. Probably all they will send me unless I ask for more details. Like what DOES "central supplies" mean. I know what they CAN mean, but exactly which ones are they saying I used? At $675, I have the right to know.:
