Seeking a midwife in Seoul

Hi. I'm in Seoul, South Korea & am looking for a midwife. English-speaking is preferred, but I can find someone to interpret if I need to. The Army hospital here isn't giving me warm vibes. Actually, they're not giving me any vibes - my first appointment is in June - but 19 years in the Army has made me wary of Army doctors, at least until I get to know them & know who's good & who to stay away from. My point is, I'd really like to have a midwife-attended birth.

Congratulations Are you after a mw-attended homebirth? I know someone in Seoul who birthed there so I can ask her what she knows, if you like

My CNM friend used to offer homebirths in Seoul (no longer there). But it is "illegal" for foreigners to practice medicine, especially as a midwife. Sooo, be willing to dig around for awhile before one surfaces I'll ask my friend if she knows of any others there for you!

Right now, DH & I are still working on coming to an agreement on homebirth or not. Of course, we may not have an option. But I've spent enough time in the Army to have developed a big lack of trust in Army doctors. BUT (another but), I haven't had any appointments with them yet - my first one is in a couple of weeks. So, who knows - they might be willing to work with us. DH says he'll fake a heart attack to draw attention away from the birth if it looks like they're getting to anxious to intervene unnecessarily. He's sweet.

Anyway, my point is, I'd like to feel like I have options. Right now, I don't feel that way.
