Our beautiful DS arrived a bit early - just shy of 37 weeks - on 5/21!!! He's healthy, and breastfeeding like a champ... and we're all back home! WOO HOO!!!

Good luck to all my June DDC ladies - may you hold your babies soon!

No, actually not this time, but no regrets! I did have a C - Iit was confirmed during my regular non stress test & ultrasound on Monday that my placenta had diminishing function (that's why last week my fluid levels were low... they kept dropping, no matter how much I drank!) and DS was nearly out of fluid when I came in that morning for my test. So, combined with his breech position, docs were unable to turn him (too dangerous - his cord was already being compressed with my contractions), and since we couldn't induce due to a previous C, we performed a repeat C a few hours later. My doc was very understanding & caring - we checked & rechecked with ultrasound, monitored my contractions for several hours, I even got an internal exam (in the hopes that I had dilated a bit - since I was contracting!) Fortunately, I was awake for the procedure, and was able to hold my baby IMMEDIATELY after he was born - on the operating table, while I was being sewn up. It was the most glorious moment, particularly in light of my previous C when I barely got a glimpse of DD before they wisked her away to be cleaned, etc...I didn't get to see her for an hour. The hospital staff was very patient & understanding of our requests - of course, we WERE insistant!

DS scored 9s on both apgars, and though technically a 36 week "premie", he was a subtantial 6lbs 15oz He only lost 5 oz while in the hospital, and has already started to gain! I am thrilled beyond words at how perfect he is... especially in light of his earliness & the stress at the end of my pregnancy.

And we only had to spend 3 days in the hospital - woo hoo!!

Congrats! Oh KS Mama I'm just so excited for you! I wish the VBAC had happened as planned but it sounds like you made all the right choices and I'm thrilled that you and your little one are healthy, happy, safe, and sound!

Huge hugs and wishes for a happy babymoon and swift recovery.

So happy with your good outcome and your new baby boy.

It is great that you have no regrets about this CS. I hope this positive experience helps erase any lingering negativity from your old memories of the first, less-positive one.

Enjoy your little one.

Congrats! I'm glad that you found out that his health was at risk - much more important than risking a VBAC

Thanks Genomics Girl! How's your little premie doing?

You know, I honestly have to say that even though I didn't acheive the natural birth that I had planned for both pregnancies... and didn't get to VBAC... I feel the healing that I got from having a C section go as well and as planned as DH & I could have hoped & wanted, along with a healthy baby boy, was on par with actually having acheived that VBAC. I felt empowered by our decisions during the whole process, and have no regrets.

I hope you're both doing well!

And thank you everyone for your good wishes & congratulations! We're having such a wonderful time at home now, so good to be out of the hospital.

Congratulations!

As for the VBAC situation, in the end, all that matters is baby arrived and that you're both happy & healthy!
