I watched an insipid little show called “Scarborough Country” last night, which I do from time to time just to see how the other half thinks, (or doesn't) and to find out which new mantra of BS the herd is gonna be spouting next.
I sat in shock and awe while my little buddy Joe had an interview with Ben Stein, a former GOP speech writer, and game show host. It is now quite clear why we as a country, (and democracy in general) are in such rough shape.
During a discussion about the economy, the “brilliant” Ben Swine said, and I quote, “Bush’s economic plan is basic Economics 101. Supply-side economics has never worked, and never will. The only way to get the economy up and running is by massive deficit spending. Bush knows this, and he has a sound economic policy. The economy is rebounding. It’s taken 3 years, but it’s finally on track to a recovery. Clinton’s supply side economic plan is the reason we are in this mess. Bush’s plan is basic Economics, 101.”
I wonder how much of the herd will believe this bull$#!t, and start spouting this hooeey? Whadaya bet this is gonna be the new mantra of those desperate fools who are trying to give an explanation to the American people as to why the once booming economy is in a shambles, and joblessness is at near record highs.
Perhaps this is why Ben has the cable show called “Win Ben Stein’s Money”, because he truly believes having a surplus of cash and assets is a bad thing. All I can say is this: Ben, if you really feel that way, let me ease your burden by getting all that cumbersome cash off your hands, so you can really prosper!
The only question I have though, is that based on the new (well, I shouldn't say new) GOP direction of “massive deficits” and “wasteful spending”, wouldn’t that by their own definition make them Democrats? Hmmmmm, I wonder.
