Maybe I don't know what biased means...

I often hear and read that people are looking for unbiased opionions, resources about circing.
I feel like they think anti circ info is biased but how can it be?
Am I biased against circ b/c my son is intact? No I am anti circ b/c it is unecessary and even cruel.
There is no benefit for intactavists ..we don't get paid we get tons of aggravfation and headache. Where is the bias?
Doctor's have a stake in circing as they get paid for it. I make no money telling people the truth about circing and often risk losing friendships or starting arguments.
How does this make me (or anyone anti circ) biased?

They don't mind if it's biased as long as it supports their "choice" to cut up a child.

Yes exactly...it's like people are looking for something that says. do what you want it makes no difference. Like that is considered unbiased. I don't get it.

Exactly, that's all it ever comes down to for them. It's a legal "choice" they can make, so it MUST be ok. :

On some mainstream forums lately, I've seen people referring to all anti-circ websites as propaganda. : These parents ask for unbiased non propaganda sites. In other words, they want a website that will say "It's okay if you circ. Don't feel guilty about it". :

I don't know of any neutral sites out there. I think the closest thing is wikipedia's entry on circumcision. Knowing the facts about circumcision, I don't know how to present them in a neutral way. :

It's funny how they'll even reference all the doctors who have told them it's necessary and then in the same breath turn around and say that Doctors Opposing Circumcision is too biased for their tastes Doctors are only unbiased if they agree with/push circumcision...

love and peace.

That's actually my point. the facts are the facts...there is no neutrality. Intactavists do not have an agenda or some secret reason so keep foreskins on babies.
why do peeple think we want circumcsion stopped?

I fel the same and think about it like that alot

I agree that it is truly hard to find unbiased sites out there..... but to 'explain' that the AAP, etc. is biased is usually not the way I want to start off, because it frankly, makes me look a little extremist. I mean, how can I possibly know more than....

So unfortunatly, when I really have to tread carefully and toe the line and provide unbiased sources I usually use the AAP statemetns and the Canadian Caring for Kids site.... and add information as I see fit.
http://www.caringforkids.cps.ca/babies/Circumcision.htm

The thing that really gets me is that these websites don't even include meatal stenosis or complications that turn up in adolescence or adult hood for circmcision, but include penile cancer for adult intact me.... but that's one source of bias. And of course, most leave out any foreskin functions.

One thing I try to state it what information should be provided for informed consent... not only unbiased informatoin on the benefits and risks but information on the functions of the foreskin, information on pain relief, etc..

However, I don't feel surprised if people question a site or sources validity... they really should be asking for unbiased sources... and its a HUGE shame that there are not really many out there that are suitable. (Or if so, I have not found them).

The problem with 'facts are facts' is that THERE are many research articles out there that support circumcision.... so parents can and do find things on sources like the AAP that say that circumcision decreases UTI's etc...

Heck, even says that circ is more hygenic.

Makes me sick.

I am glad to see the word "biased" used correctly here. Too often I see people say things like "your sources are bias" instead of "biased" and it drives me nuts.

/hijack, did not read thread and do not know if such an error was made ITT but figured I'd point it out just as a PSA.

Opposed to the hurting of babies = biased.
Get paid to hurt babies = unbiased.

: :

All opinions have some degree of bias; all opinions are subjective. Only facts are objective and unbiased. Some opinions have more basis in fact than others.
