The most gentle way to exfoliate my face?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of adding some kind of scrubby to my cleanser. Can anyone tell me what the most gentle thing out there is?

I'm thinking along the lines of sugar, superfine sugar, salt, oatmeal, brown sugar, etc.

Thanks.

I use baking soda, but I only put it my facewash once in a while. Maybe once a month.

I use oatmeal, I grind it in my coffee grinder so that it's fine. I got a facial once and the woman said that I could just wash my face with plain oatmeal (rather than buying the fancy stuff she used on me). It also absorbs oil.

I was going to say oatmeal in the coffee grinder...

Adzuki beans?! I've got to try that one! Won't it get all pastey though?

The Body Shop used to sell ground Adzuka beans in a shaker container to exfoliate.

You don't have to use anything abrasive to exfoliate, unless that's your preference. The simplest way to exfoliate would be a gentle Buff Puff or its generic equivalent.

Fruit acids or lactic acid will also break the bonds between dead skin cells and the healthy layers underneath - without the risk of abrading your skin that can come with abrasives. Remember Cleopatra's famed milk baths? Pineapple juice works well too.
