He arrived on Tuesday, May 22 at 9:53 a.m. Long labor followed by c-section, fever during labor, but mom and babe are recovering well. Just home from the hospital Friday, so still tired. Will write more later. :

Thanks for all your good wishes. Anyway - here is the story.

Went to my OB for a routine weekly visit, and she asks if my water broke. I said that I didn't think so, had a little watery discharge in the a.m., but no trickle all day, no rush of water, etc. She examines me and says that she thinks I have a slow, high leak of my uterus, and that I need to get to the hospital asap. FWIW, I had tested GBS+.

So, I call DH, he picks me up from the doc, we go to the hospital for a direct admit. They start me on pit and IV antibiotics due to the leak around 7, I labor until 7 a.m., push from 7 a.m. until 9, when they try the vaccuum... nothing. Also, around 2 a.m., I develop a fever - so they add a second type of antiobiotics. He just doesn't want to come out. So, around 9:30, they prep me for c-section. Baby's heartrate had started to get very low when they finally decided to section. By 9:53, Len was out in the world, by 10:20, I was in my recovery room. Whew, what a night! I'm just glad that I went to the doc that day - I'd hate to think what might have happened if the leak hadn't been discovered. Len was on antibiotics too until his cultures came back (negative, thank goodness.)

So, all in all, I'm really okay with the way things went. Perhaps a bit more dramatic than I would otherwise would have liked, but in the end, I have my healthy, happy boy.
