I'm sorry that my admission to being suspicious of the thread topic inferred somehow that the person who started it was a "troll". I never called her a troll as everyone can plainly read and being this board is full of women not afraid to speak their minds, if I really thought she was a troll I wouldn't mince words.

I'll be more careful of my word choices in the future when joining a thread.

From my perspective as a practitioner, trusting birth is simply assuming it will go fine if unhindered; that if a problem occurs, a simple solution will probably fix it; and that my trust aids in the manifestation of an uncomplicated birth.

I forget the simplicity of it because I'm living it. It's only when I participate in a hospital birth, or when a client transfers to me from another provider, that I'm reminded that most of the medical establishment operates from the opposite viewpoint. Whether it's "just in case" interventions or a general atmosphere of fear, from prenatal care to birth, the converse of the last part of my opening statement is very true: a caregiver's fear amd distrust will manifest a complicated birth.

I have to agree - and it seems so often that births don't follow a certain path - yet there are definite reasons why that help keep the baby and mom safer than if we intervened.
