OK, this may sound a bit out there, I'm trying to solve several problems at once, but need creative ideas... We just moved into a house that gets a lot of street noise and has old single-glazed sash windows so quite drafty. I have several thick wool blankets, incl a few Hudson Bay blankets - I don't really need them for the climate here and I have no good storage for them as no closets in this house.
So, my idea was to use these blankets in the front bay windows to cut down on noise & draft and make them useful. But I have to find a way to hang them without cutting them and a way to integrate them into the room's decor. So I was thinking of making some kind of cover (ala a duvet cover with holes at the top for the curtain rod) then tacking the blankets inside. The previous owners left wood blinds in those windows, so I would have to hang a curtain rod outside the frame.
Any thoughts or improvements to this potential scheme would be much appreciated...
