What should I do with it?

I just got a bunch of scraps of fabric. Every kind of fabric. Some stretch velvet, canvas, knit (I think I'm turning that into a cape, it's a really big piece) little bits of brocade, and lots of other things. I have a two 1/2 year old. Anyone have any ideas for what I can do with it? I don't have a sewing machine currently, however I'm seeing if I can get one off Freecycle, and I know how to sew by hand, even though it can be slow.

When I was a kid my GM left me a wonderfully eclectic assortment of fabric samples she had gotten while working in a fabric store. I learned to sew by making evening gowns for my stuffed animals.

I know you can make those rugs that you use a latch hook to tie on the fabric. I THINK you get some backing from the fabric store and you just use the latch hook to make a knot with the fabric? I am not exactly sure how to do it so maybe someone else would know?...

that's an interesting idea. I was considering making some kind of texture "blanket" or something, since there's all kinds of textures, patterns, and colors...... but more info on this would be great.
