Raw milk tastes "grassy"

I've just started using raw milk and my 4 year old likes it, but I think it tastes very "grassy," which makes sense since it's from grass-fed cows. Is this typical? I'm pregnant, so maybe I'm just super-sensitive taste-wise. Please tell me if you've ever experienced this.

Yes, it can taste grassy, and it can be especially so in the spring. You may still be getting spring milk where you are, and the milk although very good for you and extremely nutritious can take some getting used to. Raw milk will change flavors a bit in the spring and fall. If you really can't get used to it, I would wait a month or two and try again. The milk we get just started getting "normal" tasting again after a month of tasting weird and being very "grassy".

I don't like the taste of raw milk at all, so you aren't the only one who's had trouble getting used to it. Unfortunately, dairy isn't a part of our diet due to sensitivity issues, so I don't have to agonize over whether to enjoy the milk that isn't good for me or choke down the milk that is, lol. I did enjoy the cream, though. I definitely miss that delicious stuff. Whatever the bad taste was, for me it wasn't in the cream - at least not enough of it to bother me, although it did have a very slightly unpleasant aftertaste, IMO.

I definitely taste the grassiness in the cream, too, but I had the milk in my cereal this morning and that masked the taste a bit. That's pretty much the only time I have milk, so I think that will be fine. My daughter will be the one drinking most of it.
I'll be interested to see how the taste changes over the summer. Thanks!

The spring milk here tasted like flowering trees and fields. It took me by surprise since I've only had summer/fall/winter milk. My favorite is summer and fall. Winter milk here is still grass fed but its winter grasses which makes the milk not as sweet. My 3 yr old son doesn't seem to notice any difference. He still drinks 16 oz or more a day.
