When you pickle peppers...

(Heehee, I got to say "pickle peppers"...)

Do you cut them up or put them in whole if they're small? I'm thinking of small jalapenos here.

I think you could do them whole. I cut bell peppers into fourths when I pickled them.

Do you have to know how to say it before you can do it?

You can put them in whole, but be aware that if you do that, you're sacrificing jar space to the air the pepper contains. As they pickle, they may release the air leaving you with a large air pocket at the top of the jar. A compromise might be to cut them in half longways but leave the stem intact. That way they are compactable, and you don't have to worry about excess air in your jar as it settles.
