TF diet and infants

My ds is just starting out on solids, and so I'd like to hear what other's are doing with their babies.

I started giving him CLO but it seems like he spits up soon after he has it so I'm thinking to hold back on it and try again later. It's hard to know if it's the CLO or because he is a bit of a spitter in general.

I also wonder if it's too early to start giving him coconut oil...is that an allergenic food? What's the difference between expeller pressed and extra virgin? Which should I use?

I was also thinking about ghee but then again, isn't that made from milk originally so isn't it better to hold off on that till after a year? Or does the processing make it okay to give earlier?

I've read the suggestions at the WAPF site but it honestly seems like way too much food to be feeding an infant. We do a mix of spoonfeeding and baby led feeding.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I just started my daughter with solid foods, she's just over 7 months old. We have been doing banana, avacado, mango, sweet potatos, goats milk yogurt and little bits of raw milk cheddar. She is adopted so she is getting ome epxressed breast milk mixed with goats milk. I also give her probiotics and cod liver oil and coconut oil.

There was a thread a little while ago on this topic, with opinions from a lot of mamas here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=653506

Supposedly coconut oil is not a very common allergen but I personally wouldn't give it before a year as I started giving it to my DD around 10 months and now she's allergic/intolerant to it: I'd actually feel a lot more comfortable giving ghee because properly made ghee has little if any milk protein left in it (generally babies react to the milk proteins when they have dairy allergies/intolerance). DD's dairy intolerant as well but does fine with ghee. But that's just my opinion.

egg yolk....both my girls started with that and loved it. it seems like you are mostly trying to get good fats into him, and egg yolks are full with good fats.

How did you prepare the egg yolk?

I am wondering about how to do the egg yolk too.

I would boil and egg until the yolk was firm and then mix it with some CLO and dill and she ate it right up.

She won't eat yolk anymore without the white, which makes me sad

Egg yolk can be good, but some babies can't tolerate egg at all. Avocado is good if your baby likes it (mine always hated it). Other classic first foods are sweet potato or winter squashes, banana, ripe pears.

We also introduced meat and fish pretty soon after starting solids (soft slow-cooked meat, chicken liver pate, sardines, fresh salmon roe), and it wasn't long before we just offered him whatever he found interesting on our plates.

We didn't start with the CLO until well after one year, I didn't feel that it was necessary to give supplements while he was still mostly breastfeeding.
