For those of you following the EFLF book (coconut diet)

I have just read the book "Eat Fat, Lose Fat" and bought most things at the store today. I have a few questions for those of you who are doing/have done this diet plan.

1. Did you notice any bad side effects from the diet? I've heard some people have nausea, vomiting etc.

2. How long did it take you to lose weight and which phase/plan did you follow? How much weight did you lose?

3. Did you exercise as well? What kind/how often?

4. Did your coconut oil stay liquidy in the warm months? Did you put it in the fridge?

Thanks!!!!!!

I'm following some of the suggestions from a health standpoint, not to lose weight.

I tried working with this a couple of years ago and developed a sensitivity to the coconut. Any coconut product, including various brands of the oil, made my throat start to close up. Interestingly enough, that's not happening anymore, at least not yet My dad says coconut makes him gag, which I'm thinking is pretty much the same reaction. They say in the book (or maybe it's in NT) that few people are allergic to coconut oil. Maybe our family is just odd that way.

My skin tone improved dramatically within a week of my starting to take coconut oil, butter oil, and CLO, to the point where dh thought I'd gone out and bought new makeup and was putting it on early each morning

I leave my coconut oil at room temp. It gets sort of soft when it's hot out. We're in St. Louis, which is the armpit of the nation insofar as weather is concerned -- it's warm and muggy in our house even with the AC on. But, you know, I thought that was the point of tropical oils -- they can withstand higher temps without breaking down, so you can leave them out of the fridge.

Good luck with the weight loss.

Thanks.

I too worry about becoming sensitive to coconut, just from using it so much.

My oil is melted all the way. It came white and solid, then when we got in the car for a while it melted all the way and has never hardened up again. I wonder if this is a bad thing.

CO maintains it's health benefits at most temps (maybe not so much when you fry with it??)

It's easier to take off a spoon when liquid, but I prefer to eat it mixed with dry coconut (and sometimes cocoa and/or molasses and/or coconut concentrate) and maybe a little stevia...chilled to a solid (fridge or freezer), it can be chewed and I don't gag at all...actually, I love it People on here have discussed also adding raw honey and I might add a little since it *is* delicious : , but I don't add as much as I'd like since I am trying to loose weight here, not make a dessert for pure pleasure

I've just started to try to implement some EFLF things, so I can't really address your questions...sorry!

Mine never gets totally hard once it's been melted if the temperature hovers above 72ish. It looks kind of slushy, but it's fine.

Yeah, it's about 80 degrees in here, average. So it is totally liquid. I don't need to refrigerate it?

no, don't refrigerate for normal use

it's easier to use melted in baked goods and it's nice not to have to heat it before adding it

I just like it solid for consumption

That sounds so yummy. Adding shredded coconut and maybe a little bit of cacao nib. Hmm...
