I want to make my dd a doll for her 4 birthday this september. What would be a great first doll project for me?

I have never made a doll before and have *NO IDEA* what i am doing.

I do sew, (not much by hand though) and I do knit (intermediate)
How difficult of a craft are we talking?

Thanks for any input!

I really like Joys 13" little love kit. Its easy and a really nice size for small hands.

I love this company-

I have heard a lot nice things about this company, too and Amy is very helpful on the phone. She can coach you through the doll making process and answer all you questions-

I *Love* the Dancing rain dolls. How do you make the hair? Is it crocheting or are they premade? And how do they attach to the doll?
Do you only hand stitch or can you use a machine?
I'm just trying to tell how well I am at each skill needed.

Thanks!

Yes, the dolls are cute. The hair is crocheted and then sewn onto the head. Then longer lengths are attached to the crocheted cap.

I use a machine to sew the bodies but I do of people who handstitch the entire doll.

I wouldn't hesitate to email Amy any questions you have. I have done that before buying and she was really really helpful.

HTH!

Thanks for clearing that up for me!
