The release date for HP and the OotP has been changed. It's two days earlier, Wednesday, July 11.

Anybody need to make changes to their vacation plans??

Dang, I'm still going to miss it

Nope, the sitter still can't come 'til the following sunday, so I'm screwed regardless.

Hmmm...I wonder if the release date overseas will be changed as well...

Yippee, here's hoping nothing comes up that week!
Just curious: What is this one going to be rated? Will you take your kids? This one will be a darker Harry Potter.

Rated PG-13 for 'fantasy violence and frightening images'.

I didn't let six year old ds see GoF at the theater. I thought Voldemort's 'rebirth' was pretty creepy. He got to see it at home.

I just totally freaked out.

I thought it was the book, and we WERE going to have to change vacation plans.:

Won't make a difference for us. We won't get to go until the weekend anyway. We'll rope one of my SIL's into watching the kids for us! :

Nope, ds is staying at home. He's only 3, HP is nowhere near appropriate for him. My 10 y.o. niece is going to see it, though. She's read all the books and seen all the movies.

DD's Muggle Magic Camp was centered around the opening of OOTP. I bet the directors freaked out when they saw the release date change. They had already booked the whole theater and everything for the camp. I got an email saying that the bad news is it will affect our closing day(July 13) the good news is now we get an advance private screening on JULY 10TH whoo hoo!!! My DD will be not quite 6 and ds, almost 10 they will be at the camp and will see it. I am leaving my 4yr old home though. My kids are no way bothered by fantasy violence or imaging. DD was actually rooting for the dragon during GOF.

dd is too young (4) and has only watched the 1st movie. scary enough for her.

the release date change won't affect us. dh & i plan on taking a day off & going to a random daytime showing in the middle of the week after it opens. hopefully that'll reduce the crowds somewhat. i'm not much of a people person when it comes to movies

DD is one... and I'm taking her. Totally excited.

My kids aren't bothered by fantasy violence either. If it was Guns, swearing and nudity I'd have a huge issue. But they have a huge grasp on what is real vs not real. Gonna have some friends go first to screen it and then go on that weekend. They've all gone opening weekend for the last 4 movies so they are excited for this one. (Littlest may stay home, but we usually just go to a late feature so she falls asleep before it starts, lol)

"Well done, Dragon!" (Fred and George)

When the dragon went tumbling down the canyon 7 year old ds worried that it was dead! I told him she's okay, but now Charlie Weasley has to go fetch a pissed off mama dragon.

It is my ds' 11th birthday too - he is soooo excited and feels quite honoured that his birthday was chosen as the release date for the final book he is really hoping that he will discover he is a true wizard just after midnight on the 21st!
