Any Reno/Tahoe Moms?

I'm in Carson City and hope that there are other Moms in my locality.

I'm in Carson too, there's a few of us around! I don't get together with many other moms because I've kinda got my hands full right now with my three and also I watch a few others during the week. I'm going to try and start going to LLL in Gardnerville once I am able to get everyone out of the house before evening time, LOL!

I'm about as far from Carson as you can get and still be in Reno/ Tahoe in Verdi Someone here directed me to yahoo groups where I found a AP group and a naturalmothering group for Reno.... don't know about Carson.

I'm glad that there are some other Moms in the same area.

mom2mimi, are the LLL meetings only in Gardnerville? If so, I still think that I might try to make it to some whenever possible.

According to the LLL website, there are meetings at the Family to Family Connection in Carson City at 2 pm on the first Tuesday of each month.

I'm in Carson too! Actually, I know mom2mimi :

There is a LLL meeting in Carson City on the first Tuesday of every month and on in Gardnerville on the third Tuesday of every month. We'd love to see you at both! The one in Gardnerville is more MDC type mamas and it's pretty much the same mamas every time (and some new ones too). The Carson meeting has a few mamas who come every time and lots of different moms each time. I'm always at both! Hopefully that made sense LOL.

I also own a yahoo group for mamas in this area if you're interested. Most of the moms are from the Gardnerville area, but we're getting more from Carson now too.

Are you new to the area? I was born in Lake Tahoe and have lived in Carson City pretty much all my life, if you have any questions hopefully I can answer them if you want

Sarah- I moved here last July from Southern California. DH and I met when we were both living in South Lake Tahoe a few years ago.

One question I do have is whether anyone on this board has had any experience with non-vax friendly Family Practitioners or other medical providers.We're looking for someone in the area, to no avail!

I'm in Truckee. Kinda far away, but we pass through Carson somewhat frequently to visit DH's parents in Dayton.

Hi! I'm a Truckee mama as well, but work in Reno. To answer your question, Aviva, I work at the Conscious Living Center just south of downtown. As an Ayurvedic Practitioner I am always happy to work children with natural healing methods. Unfortunately (for my practice, not for me), DH, DD and I are moving to CO in 2 months. But - I also work with a wonderful Naturopath, Claire Riendeau, who is very against vax and works with lots of children. Check out the center here - www.consciouslivingcenter.com

I'm west of Gardnerville but I'm in Carson several times a week if anyone ever gets together. I don't think I know anyone from MDC locally.

Thanks for bumping the thread! We have not made our move yet but trying to gather info about the area. Where are the good health food stores, parks etc...

and do we need to start an AP playgroup?

oh and does anyone have any info on Montessori schools in the area or a co-op preschool type thing or anything else interesting?

Hopefully some of the Carson Moms will have info for you. I know there is a Trader Joes in Carson. Reno has a Food Coop store (greatbasinfood.coop), a Trader Joes, a Wild Oats and we're getting a Whole Foods soon.

I'm not sure about playgroups... I'm in one that is not very AP oriented I think the yahoo group gets together now and again, but I've never made it..
Overall it's a nice place but we are all spread out over a pretty big geographical area, so meet-ups are kind of difficult.

There are a couple of boutique stores where you can buy z-diapers, cloth diapers, slings etc., but usually online is easier.

There are LLL meetings in Carson and Reno.

I don't know about pediatricians and who's good down there.
