The penis growing faster than the foreskin

I have read a couple of moms (somehwere else) say they had to have their sons circed because of that, What the hell are the talking about? It seems illogical to me. Of course they didn't give an actual medical term for it. Anyway, if anyone knows what they talking about let me know. Thanks

All I can think of is sometimes a baby will be born with a longish foreskin then quickly grow into it so it's not hanging over the end of the penis anymore. But it's not a medical problem so I'm just guessing that these mothers were misinformed that their child had a problem when it really wasn't a problem. Anyway if the foreskin really is naturally too short or too tight, cutting it shorter wouldn't help. Except that there is such a thing as a tight foreskin that can be treated by cutting a slit I think, not a full circ, but maybe some doctors just do a full circ? I'm just babbling now, sorry.

Most of the time when they say this it means that the foreskin wouldnt retract or when the boy got a erection it was a bit painful because it was pulling on the senachia (know i didnt spell that right) this is all normal development but take a boy to a foreskin ignorent dr and they dx phimosis and tell them that it has to come off.

The dorsel slit should only be done as a last resort before circ on a man who has severe scaring either from severe untreated infection or repeat forced retraction. It can allow the foreskin to become retractable it does of course cause some nerve damage were the cut is made but it is a far cry better than slicing the whole thing off.

It is something I've seen on pro-circ forums.

Along with the claim that it is impossible for a circumciison to be too tight, because the skin would always grow and stretch.

Yep, you are right MCatLvrMom2A&X, that's exactly what happened. I asked one of the moms to clarify and that's almost exactly what she said.
This makes me what to beat the crap out of the stupid doctors.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but with one of my sons we had a situation where he was fully retractable before puberty, however the penis growth when the hormones kicked in resulted in a type of 'phimosis' (note quotes). This meant that he was almost completely unretractable, but had been prior, resulting in a bit of anxiety at a critical body-image age. He resolved with application of steroid cream and gentle stretching.

Such a false claim, as I'm sure you know. My son's circ is so tight that his penis is pulled tight, leans to the left very, very obviously and he sometime still, at age 6, will get upset about being erect, saying it hurts and IS TIGHT. My younger son has a looser circ, and so far I haven't seen this type of problem for him.

Bethany, you aren't planning on circing your new
baby?

OK a bit random, but I remember a couple of times circ. came up on the show Scrubs. There was a kid in the hospital with some sort of foreskin problem and JD gave him some creme and a playboy telling him he could loosen it up and prevent surgery. I have to wonder if this was the problem they were talking about and if this is good advice.

They also had a couple trying to decide to circ. the baby. It was left open at the end what their decision was, but I have to wonder if someone on that writing team at least wants to have the subject at least thought about.

Sounds like someone's doctor had a yacht payment due. :

Bethany... yes, I know... it is ridiculous and insulting.

BTW, I hope you are starting to feel better and getting some needed rest. I have a couple of forums open at the same time and happened to catch your post about having the stomach bug at the same time as reading this one.

Take care of yourself,

Jessica

Oh, no no no no no no!!!! I've posted on here lots in the past, mostly regarding having 2 circed and 1 uncirced. I forget that I don't know many people in this forum!

No circumcision for this one. One of these days I'll get around to putting some of my dh's statements on paper, on timeline order. It's really interesting to watch the progression of his thoughts over time.

Jess, I'm finally feeling a little better. Now I just can't sleep. : I'm sore, like a flu kind of sore, but this definetly wasn't the flu, it was a stomach virus. So it's wierd. I'm achey, and it's keeping me up. But I did get an hour or so of sleep just now, and got up for a popsicle that seems to be agreeing with me. Yay.
