Post Partum Doulas- Where did you get your training?

Hi everyone

I took the DONA Birth Doula training a few years ago, but never followed through with it because I got pregnant shortly after. I enjoyed the training very much and had planned on re-taking it.

After several years of serious thought, though... I decided I do not want to actually attend births. I think if by chance I witnessed a sad outcome, that I wouldn't be able to handle it emotionally. I'm sortof sensitive that way.

But I LOVE childbirth and I want to be involved professionally in one way or another. I am planning on retaking the BFW Introductory seminar and continuing to get cert as a childbirth educator. I want to do the PP Doula thing too, but I'm not sure who to go through...

So if you took the training, who did you go to and why? Did you enjoy it? Did you go on to practice?

Thanks

nak, so please excuse typos

I'm going through CAPPA's distance course for PP work. I'm like you, I love babies and birth, but I have no desire to be a labor doula. My passion lies with before and after birth, KWIM? I like CAPPA's training program, and the distance stuff is great for me with a little one at home that I don't want to leave for 2 days. If you have any specific questions. feel free to ask here or pm me.

I was actually looking at CAPPA's distance program. Birtharts has one too, and I forget who else... but I think I will definately be going that route, considering the travel and expense I'm already planning on putting into my childbirth ed. training.

How do you like their program??

I did DONA's program. It was amazing! I also get about 50% of my clients from referrals off their website.

I took the DONA training, and liked it very much. I am not doing traditional client work however (teaching a postpartum support/education class instead) so I have not certified.

great postpartum care

I received the most amazing postpartum care with my 2 kids.
there is a woman here in fl who does ayurdoula postpartum care. it's an ancient indian science on how to care for a woman postpartum. the care included special diet and herbals to help with digestion, constipation, and neither of my babies had colic. they also use essential oils and soo many nice things!
if you want to ck it out she has a web site
doulascare.info
her teacher also has a great site
sacredwindow.com
i wish you luck!
