Hey Mamas,
my 25-mo-old DD is having dental surgery Mon for a huge cavity in a molar and 2 other cavities. The plan is to fill the molar if possible (prefab stainless steel?), so xrays, cleaning, sealants, and a bunch of other dental mumbo-jumbo. Does that sound about right? Anyone who's been through this have suggestions for me? things you wish you'd known? things you would do differently if you had it to do over? One wise mama chanted over and over to me "breastmilk is a clear fluid, breastmilk is a clear fluid..." What else?
Also, the hospital won't allow me to go back with her. She'll have Versed and be loopy, then they'll wheel her back and put her under general anesthesia. I'm worried that she'll be paniced b/c she has so much separation anxiety. I am working with the child life people and they will try to bond with her ahead of time, then go back with her but I'm skeptical about how much that will help. I may use walk-talkies to talk to her or tape record my voice and give her something to hold with my scent. so what am I missing?
thanks,
julie

I haven't been through this (yet) but wanted to send you all of my wishes for a quick and safe recovery for your daughter and you.
