PROTEST DICK CHENEY IN RICHMOND MONDAY JUNE 23
** Call to action from Richmond Food Not Bombs **

Food Not Bombs has learned that vice president Dick Cheney will be in
Richmond on Monday, June 23 as part of the Bush administration’s drive
to raise $200 million in its bid for reelection.

Cheney will talk at Richmond’s Jefferson Hotel for a $1,000 a plate
fundraiser at 11:30 a.m. to grease up area fat cats for more dough to
keep his oil junta in power. This administration (that took our country
to war under false pretenses, is responsible for the murder of innocent
Iraqi and Afghan people, is waging class war against the poor with its
economic policy and is currently targeting immigrant communities for
unconstitutional detainment and deportation) is working really hard to
stay in power. We must stop them.

Since the GOP (Grand Oil Party) is getting a jump-start on its
reelection bid, we need to mobilize to prevent another four years of
this Orwellian nightmare from continuing. So, in order to get this
party started, Richmond Food Not Bombs is calling for all people of
conscience to come out and protest the presence of Cheney in our town.
We plan to be out in front of the Jefferson at 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Bring your signs and some chants.

We will be demanding to know where are the weapons of mass destruction?
What about Cheney’s relationship to the Halliburton Company, which
stands to earn $500 million in contracts from rebuilding Iraq? What
about the civil liberties of Iraqi people that are being taken away by
the U.S. military?

It is urgent you come out and bring your friends with you. Although we
didn’t stop the war on Iraq, we must continue to resist the further
destruction of our civil liberties and social services; so come and
join us.
