Please help me with my pre-e fears. . . again

I'm almost 28 weeks pregnant. I had mild, late-onset pre-e with Anneke which my doctor believed warrented an induction. (I'm not so sure anymore.)

Anyway. I have a midwife this time and am planning a homebirth. She says that everything looks good. My bp is fine (although it was at this point last time too,) no protein in my urine, etc.

I have had a tiny bit of visual disturbances -- once when I ran from a dark house outside and bent down to pick up Anneke who had run into the road. : So I don't know if that is anything.

I have also had some discomfort under my right ribs. It feels like a baby foot. I'm pretty sure the baby is head down right now, or was a couple of days ago when my midwife checked me out, anyway. I know that a symptom of pre-e can be pain in the ribs on the right side, but it's not really pain, more just like someone poking me there.

Sigh. Am I going crazy with this pre-e thing? I just really really don't want it to happen again. :

I think if you are really worried you should call your midwife and voice your concerns....
However, I describe the right-sided pain (epigastric) as a sharp, stabbing pain. Really painful not just discomfort.
Visual disturbances from running and bending over sounds more like normal low blood pressure pregnancy stuff, not the pre-e spots and sparkles.
If you had pre-e last time your chance of getting it in a second pregnancy (if the partner/father is the same) is about ten percent.
But again if you are worried you should call your care provider and talk it through.
Take care.

Thank you so much. It's not stabbing pains at all, just pressure, like something wedged up in there. I had a very similiar feeling with DD and I was just scared that it was a pre-e sign.

I think I am driving myself a little bit crazy. . .

Where did you find that statistic? If you have a link I'd be very interested :

Make sure you are eating really well- enough protein and salt to taste. Drinking nice clean water. Whole grains, leafy greens. You can make yourself protein shakes with spirulina.
How do you feel other than the the things you mentioned which don't sound like pre-e to me. Do you remember how you felt last time and if you are feeling the same?
You might want to work with an alternative practitioner to strengthen your kidneys and liver.

that: You need to be eating at least 60g of protein a day. (some sources say it's more like 80-100g). I had pre-e last time, too, and next time I'll make sure that I'm eating a whole lot better.

Thanks.

Yes, I have been trying to eat a lot of protein this time, too. I feel pretty good otherwise. I have been tired, but I have low iron that I am working on and a two year old to chase around. Honestly, I felt fine last time, too, so who knows.

I think the ten percent statistic was from my ontario midwifery exam test prep book. I remember it from my final exam study cram. I don't have a link, but maybe I'll poke around and see if that book referenced it's source for the stat.
